      Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Tuesday that Vaughn Grissom lost 14 pounds due to illness earlier this month.

      Advice: This certainly helps explain some of his struggles out of the gate as he’s batting .152 (5-for-33) with one extra-base hit and two RBI through eight games in his Red Sox debut. It’s been a strange few injury-plagued months for the 23-year-old middle infielder since arriving in Boston in the Chris Sale trade.       Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

      Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning.
