    • Kjerstad hits home run, drives in three in win
Heston Kjerstad went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, a home run and three RBI against the Rangers on Thursday.

Advice: Kjerstad’s home run was his first of the season. He started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and his two-run home run off Jon Gray in the third inning gave the Orioles a 6-0 lead. Anthony Santander had the night off with Kjerstad playing right field. Baltimore has a glut of outfielders, but Kjerstad will at least rotate in and could start to see regular playing time with more games like the one he had on Thursday.

    • Gray hammered again for eight runs Thursday
Jon Gray allowed eight runs in five innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Gray gave up nine hits, walked one and struck out one. It’s the second time in his last three starts that Gray has allowed at least eight earned runs. In that time his ERA has increased from 2.17 to 3.77. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home next week.

    • Michael Kopech picks up save vs. Atlanta
Michael Kopech pitched a scoreless ninth to get a save Thursday against Atlanta.

Advice: Kopech didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout. That’s the sixth save of the season for the 28-year-old, and the scoreless frame lowered his ERA to a still-shaky 4.59 on the 2024 season. Kopech is a trade candidate that could be playing elsewhere, but his fantasy value would be severely limited if he’s not a closer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:56 pm

    • Jordan Hicks strikes out seven, allows three vs. Cubs
Jordan Hicks gave up three runs in five innings while striking out seven against the Cubs on Thursday, but he didn’t factor into the decision.

Advice: All three runs were given up in the third, as he gave up a two-run homer to Nico Hoerner and an RBI triple to Seiya Suzuki. The right-hander was strong outside of that frame while showing off his swing-and-miss stuff. In his first season with the Giants, Hicks had a 3.36 ERA, 76/33 K/BB and 1.28 WHIP across 85 1/3 innings in his 17 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:51 pm

    • Angels recall Davis Daniel for Thursday start
Angels recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Daniel will make his season debut on Thursday evening against the Tigers after posting a pedestrian 5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 82/25 K/BB ratio across 76 innings (14 starts) this season for Triple-A Salt Lake. The 27-year-old righty made three relief appearances last year for Los Angeles in his first taste of the majors. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:53 pm

    • Promoted ahead
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game versus Detroit.

Advice: Daniel has yet to pitch in the majors this season despite joining the active roster for one day in May. He posted a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 12.1 innings across three games with the Halos last season, but fantasy managers should expect results closer to his Triple-A statline (5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 76 innings) as he makes his first career MLB start Thursday. Guillermo Zuniga was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:43 pm

    • Reds activate prospect Noelvi Marte for ’24 debut
Reds activated INF Noelvi Marte from the restricted list.

Advice: Marte returns to Cincinnati’s lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals after serving an 80-game suspension following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance. The 22-year-old infielder will get the majority of his starts at third base for the Reds moving forward after emerging as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape last year before batting .316/.366/.456 with three homers and six steals over 35 contests in the majors. He struggled in a quick 12-game ramp up earlier this month with Triple-A Louisville, batting .151 (8-for-53) with just one extra-base hit, but some rust is to be expected on the heels of such a lengthy absence. It might take him a few weeks to get going, but he’s absolutely worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues based solely on his immense talent. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:53 pm
    • Reinstated from suspension
The Reds activated Marte from the suspended list Thursday.

Advice: Marte has completed his 80-game PED suspension and the Reds will return him to their active roster on the first day he's eligible. The 22-year-old struggled mightily while on his rehab assignment, slashing just .151/.151/.170 with no home runs and a 15:0 K:BB over 53 plate appearances. Fantasy managers might be wise to keep Marte out of their lineups for now while he knocks some rust off, but the infielder should be rostered virtually everywhere. He should operate as the Reds' primary third baseman. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:15 pm
    • Getting spot start Thursday
Kuhl will start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Advice: Kuhl had started in 11 of his 13 appearances at Triple-A Charlotte prior to being called up June 14, but his first three outings with the big club have come out of the bullpen. However, Kuhl covered 4.1 innings and 99 pitches in long relief while mopping up in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, so even though he'll be pitching on three days' rest, he should be able to provide the White Sox with a decent amount of length in a starting role. Unless he impresses against Atlanta to earn himself a longer stay in the rotation, Kuhl will likely be moved back to the bullpen or sent to the minors after Thursday's start.
