    • Cardinals officially activate Contreras off the IL
      Cardinals activated C Willson Contreras (forearm) off the 10-day IL.

      Advice: It was a quick turnaround for Contreras who had surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm when he was hit by J.D. Martinez’s swing. We should expect the Cardinals to ease Contreras in during the first couple of weeks with an extra day off or two, but his bat will be a welcome addition to the Cardinals’ lineup and fantasy lineups as well.       The Cardinals activated Contreras (forearm) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He'll start at catcher and bat third in the Cardinals' series opener versus Atlanta.

      Advice: Contreras was initially expected to miss around 10 weeks after he suffered a fractured left forearm in early May, but he'll make it back from the IL in just six and a half weeks. The Cardinals could manage Contreras' workload carefully as he settles back in with the big club, but fantasy managers should feel free to activate ahead of this week's action.       Mariners activated Jorge Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day IL.

      Advice: Polanco has not been off to a good start in 2024, hitting just .195/.293/.302 this season. He will seemingly replace Ryan Bliss at second base even though Bliss is hitting .295/.354/.477 in 18 games in June with one home run and four RBI. Perhaps Polanco won’t have a long leash, but it seems like he’ll be back in the starting lineup this week. Tyler Locklear was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 11:58 am

      The Mariners activated Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

      Advice: Polanco was sidelined for just under a month with a right hamstring strain. He went 6-for-20 in six games between High-A Everett and Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment, slugging three home runs over his final two contests. Polanco has slashed a disappointing .195/.293/.302 across 181 plate appearances for Seattle this season. He'll resume his role as the club's everyday second baseman. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:42 am

      Advice: Contreras has played six rehab games with Triple-A Memphis, catching three games and serving as the designated hitter in three others. He's gone just 3-for-21 at the plate in those contests, but the Cardinals are more concerned with how he's feeling and reports on that are favorable. Contreras was initially supposed to be out until around the All-Star break when he fractured his left forearm in early May but will beat that timetable by a few weeks. It's a strong turnaround for the 30-year-old, who is slashing .241/.310/.433 with 13 homers, 39 RBI, 49 runs scored, 20 doubles and 13 steals through 76 games overall.       Francisco Lindor clobbered a two-run homer and stole a base on Sunday night, helping to lead the Mets to a 5-2 victory over the Cubs in Chicago.

      Advice: Lindor opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 378-foot (101.4 mph EV) two-run blast after an eight-pitch battle with Javier Assad in the third inning. He was also hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and swiped second base before getting stranded at third.       Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a homer that accounted for Pittsburgh’s only run and a walk Sunday against the Rays.

      Advice: The homer left his bat at just 90 mph, but aided by some wind, it got over the wall at PNC Park. Reynolds’ hitting streak is now at 20 games, and it includes three homers in his last four games. Today’s performance pushed his OPS over .800 for the first time since mid-April.
