    • Colt Keith falls triple short of the cycle
Colt Keith went 4-for-5 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored in a, 11-2 win over the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: The Tigers, led by Keith, teed off against the White Sox. Eight of their nine starters had a hit and they had nine runs by the end of the second inning. Keith had a chance to hit the first cycle by a Tiger since Carlos Guillén in 2006 and the team has shown increased confidence in the youngster by moving him up to second in their order this week. • Back in startling lineup
Marte started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Saturday's 12-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Advice: Marte hadn't played the field since Wednesday; he served as the designated hitter Thursday then was held out of the starting lineup Friday. All appears to be fine for Marte, who was merely given a two-game respite from playing the field. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:13 am

    • Swats two homers in rehab game
Polanco (hamstring) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Las Vegas on Friday, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and another RBI from a bases-loaded walk.

Advice: Polanco may have put the bow on a highly successful rehab assignment with Friday's performance. Not only were the offensive fireworks a welcome sight for a player who's struggled all season at the big-league level, but Polanco was also able to put in a full game on defense for the first time during his rehab stint. It would seem highly likely the Mariners will deem him ready for activation at this point, but they may opt to have Polanco finish out the weekend with the Rainiers before potentially meeting the club in Tampa Bay for the start of a three-game series against the Rays on Monday. • Jorge Polanco homers twice in Triple-A rehab game
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) homered twice on Friday for Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Polanco appears to be close to rejoining Seattle’s infield mix as he’s been out since late May due to a right hamstring strain. The 30-year-old second baseman has dealt with seemingly countless leg issues over the past few seasons, which have impacted his fantasy appeal, but there’s still enough talent here to think he can make an impact in deeper mixed leagues, if he can stay on the field for an extended stretch. • Ketel Marte absent from Diamondbacks lineup Friday
Ketel Marte is absent from the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting second baseman. Blaze Alexander will draw a rare start at second base in his place and will bat eighth for the Diamondbacks against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies on Friday evening in Philadelphia. • Not in Friday's lineup
Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Marte served as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter Thursday and is now out of their lineup altogether, although there's no indication at this point that this is anything other than a routine day off. Blaze Alexander is handling second base Friday. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:22 am

    • Thairo Estrada not in the lineup on Thursday
Thairo Estrada is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: It appears to be a routine day off for Estrada, who was involved in a minor collision at first base yesterday but remained in the game. The 28-year-old has not been having a great season, hitting .240 with just one steal in 71 games. He’s also hitting .211 with 13 strikeouts over 14 games in June, so things haven’t been ticking up of late either. The Giants will move Brett Wisely to second base and start Nick Ahmed at shortstop. • Taking seat Thursday
Estrada is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.

Advice: The Giants are giving Brett Wisely a start at second base and Nick Ahmed will be his double-play partner at shortstop. It seems to be a routine day off for Estrada, who had started each of the previous 14 contests. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:30 pm

    • Full game at DH
Polanco (hamstring) took a full game's worth of plate appearances as the designated hitter in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Las Vegas on Wednesday, going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.

Advice: Polanco's ability to play in back-to-back games for the second time in his rehab assignment appears to bode well for his chances of imminent activation. The veteran infielder already logged seven innings on defense Tuesday, so there may be nothing left to prove for Polanco in terms of the fitness of his previously ailing hamstring.
