    • Good start goes to waste
Steele allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine over 7.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

Advice: The downside to Steele's outing was that two of the hits on his line were solo home runs from Matt Chapman and Nick Ahmed. The southpaw hadn't given up a homer in any of his last five starts, and the Giants were able to continue their comeback push against the Cubs' bullpen to deny Steele his first win of the year. Despite the lack of positive results, he's logged five quality starts in 11 outings with a 3.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB over 64.1 innings. Steele is projected for a tough road matchup at Milwaukee this weekend. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

    • Cubs bullpen can’t hold lead for Justin Steele
Justin Steele was denied a win yet again after allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings Monday against the Giants.

Advice: Steele struck out a season-high and departed with a 4-2 lead, but it failed to hold up. The result left Steele winless through 11 starts this season, even though he’s turned in quality starts in five of his last six outings. He’s 0-3 with a 3.08 ERA. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Fans 11 in victory
Ragans (5-5) earned the win over Miami on Monday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters over six innings.

Advice: Ragans racked up 27 swings-and-misses -- the most by any pitcher in baseball this season -- en route to his first win since May 22. Despite the five-game stretch of starts without a victory, the southpaw has been pitching well, as he posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB during the drought. Ragans' 11 punchouts Monday were his second-most this season, and he ranks third in MLB with 120 strikeouts on the campaign. He is also tied for third in the majors with 12 quality starts. • No-decision versus Padres
Corbin allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings to take a no-decision versus the Padres on Monday.

Advice: Corbin threw 97 pitches (59 strikes) in his longest outing of the season. This was his fourth quality start, though he hasn't earned a win in any of those appearances and has gone winless over eight consecutive starts. For the season, Corbin has a 5.46 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 60:32 K:BB through 89 innings across 16 starts. The southpaw would be on regular rest to start this weekend versus the Rays, but with Josiah Gray (elbow) potentially returning after a rehab appearance Tuesday, it's unclear if Corbin will remain in the Nationals' rotation moving forward. • Matt Waldron fans eight in quality start
Matt Waldron pitched six innings of two-run ball Monday against the Nationals.

Advice: Waldron struck out eight in a sixth straight quality start. He threw the knuckler 46 times tonight and wound up with nothing but soft contact against the pitch. There’s still not a whole lot to like about the rest of his arsenal, but the knuckleball has come far enough this year to make him a fine bet going forward. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

    • Patrick Corbin goes seven in no-decision
Patrick Corbin made it through seven innings allowing three runs Monday against the Padres.

Advice: It’s the first time Corbin has completed seven innings since last July 9. He’s actually put together three nice outings in a row now, though the schedule has certainly helped some there (he faced the Tigers and D-backs in his previous two starts). His current 5.46 ERA is his lowest mark after any outing this year. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago
    • Strikes out eight in no-decision
Waldron allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Waldron rattled off his sixth straight quality start, and he's gone nine outings without allowing more than two runs. The run support wasn't there for him Monday, leaving him to take his fifth no-decision of the season. Waldron is at a 3.43 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 84:27 K:BB over 89.1 innings through 16 starts. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Boston. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • Tosses 5.2 scoreless frames Monday
Crochet took a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing five hits and striking out six batters over 5.2 scoreless innings.

Advice: Crochet was on his game with 16 whiffs and six punchouts against one of MLB's top offenses, but Dodgers starter James Paxton traded scoreless frames with him, and both hurlers had to settle for a no-decision. Crochet continues to impress in what has been a breakout first campaign as a starter -- he lowered his ERA to 3.05 with Monday's outing and ranks second in the league with 130 strikeouts. The southpaw has given up three or fewer earned runs while going at least five frames in 11 consecutive starts. Rotowire.com Today, 10:09 pm

    • Takes loss in short start
Medina (1-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings to take the loss Monday versus the Angels.

Advice: Medina labored through his three frames, requiring 79 pitches (45 strikes). This was his shortest outing of the season and the third time in five starts he's given up at least four runs. The right-hander is at a 5.25 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB through 24 innings this season. Medina is projected to make his next start at Arizona. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 pm
