    • Goes deep again Friday
Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and three total RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Happ did his best to keep the Cubs in the game, launching his sixth home run of the season in the second inning, then walking home a run with the bases loaded in the fifth. The outfielder has gone deep four times over his last six games, and he has a robust 1.184 OPS during the stretch. Happ's overall numbers don't look as good, but he's worth riding with while he's hot. Rotowire.com Today, 5:56 am

    • Better vs. Orioles
Civale didn't factor into the decision Friday against Baltimore, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Civale was sharp Friday, blanking the Orioles for five innings before he was ultimately charged with a lone run in the sixth. The 28-year-old Civale has been pitching better of late, allowing just three runs over 10.1 innings in his last two starts after struggling to an 8.48 ERA in his previous six outings. Overall, he's 2-4 on the year with a 5.37 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 60:18 K:BB across 62 innings. Civale's currently lined up for a rematch with Baltimore at home in his next start. • Three hits in return
Kwan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk in Friday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: Kwan returned from the injured list after missing nearly the entire month of May but showed no signs of rust. He singled three times, including an RBI knock in the eighth inning. He's produced five multi-hit performances in his last eight appearances. Kwan owns a strong .365/.420/.504 slash line with 30 runs scored and a 12:12 BB:K through 150 plate appearances. • Aaron Civale allows one run in no-decision
Aaron Civale pitched 5 1/3 innings on Friday against the Orioles and allowed one earned run. He struck out three and walked one.

Advice: Civale has simplified his approach of late. This was his seventh consecutive start throwing his cutter at least 30% of the time and the third time in four starts where he’s thrown it 40% of the time. The final results were solid here against one of the best offenses in baseball, but Civale induced just six swings and misses while the Orioles hit 10 balls hard. He remains a risky streamer until he can figure out his secondary pitches. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

    • Steven Kwan goes 3-for-4 in return
Steven Kwan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a walk in a win over the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Kwan didn’t miss a beat after spending nearly four weeks on the IL with a hamstring strain. He was slashing the ball all over the yard and in the middle of multiple Guardians’ rallies. His batting average is up to an astounding .365. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm

    • Ian Happ hits rare opposite-field homer in loss
Ian Happ had a two-run homer and a bases-loaded walk Friday to supply three of the Cubs’ four runs against the Reds.

Advice: Happ’s 364-foot homer, hit as a left-hander to the most generous part of Wrigley in left-center, was his first to the opposite field since 2022. He has four homers in six games after totaling just two in 47 games to start the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:40 pm

    • Back from IL, leading off Friday
Kwan (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list and is starting in left field and batting leadoff Friday against the Nationals, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old has been sidelined nearly four weeks by a strained left hamstring, but he's back with the Guardians after a four-game rehab stint in the minors. Kwan was producing as one of the best leadoff hitters in baseball prior to the injury with three homers, three steals and a .353/.407/.496 slash line in 32 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:42 am

    • Guardians activate Steven Kwan for Friday return
Guardians activated OF Steven Kwan from the 10-day injured list.

    • On verge of return
Kwan (hamstring) went 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base in a rehab game with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: After two games with High-A Lake County, Kwan moved his rehab to Columbus earlier this week. He was on base three times Thursday in his second game with the Guardians' top minor-league affiliate and added a steal for good measure, showing good confidence in his hamstring. The 26-year-old appears poised to return to the major-league lineup in the near future, possibly as soon as Friday against Washington, and will look to pick up where he left off before going down after posting a .353/.407/.496 slash line over his first 32 games this season.
