    • Remains leadoff against righties
Carroll batted leadoff and went 1-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Carroll was moved down to the eighth in the order the last two games, but that is an adjustment against left-handers only. Last year's NL Rookie of the Year continues to struggle overall, slashing .192/.278/.279 through 259 plate appearances. There are indicators to explain his issues -- fewer barrels and an increase in pop-up rate jump out -- but he's retained good plate discipline and luck appears to be a factor. Carroll's .237 BABIP ranks 142nd among 154 qualified hitters in MLB. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:02 am
    • Reaches career milestone
Turner went 3-for-4 with a double and a run, reaching 1,500 career hits in Wednesday's 3-2 win against the Orioles.

Advice: Turner scored after doubling in the second inning, and he singled in his next at-bat for the 1,500th hit of his major-league career. The veteran has posted a modest .225/.307/.354 slash line through 202 plate appearances in his first campaign with Toronto, though he's maintained his usual solid contact skills with a 16.3 percent strikeout rate. Turner has added four homers, 20 RBI, 19 runs and a 10.1 percent walk rate. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:47 pm

    • Provides insurance with homer
Arenado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Astros.

Advice: This was Arenado's third homer in his last seven games, doubling his total to six long balls on the year. He's gone 6-for-28 (.214) in that seven-game span as he continues to try and put it all together this season. The veteran third baseman is at a .252/.306/.376 slash line with 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, 10 doubles and no stolen bases through 58 contests in 2024, numbers far too similar to the down year he posted in the abbreviated 2020 campaign. • Keeps winning
Skenes (3-0) picked up the win Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk across five innings with eight strikeouts.

Advice: While Skenes picked up his third victory in five career starts, he didn't make it out of Wednesday's start unscathed. Each of the three runs attributed to the rookie came off a home run, with Shohei Ohtani belting a two-run homer in the third inning before Andy Pages went yard for a solo shot in the fifth. At 22 years of age, Skenes has already established himself as an above-average MLB starter, holding a 3.00 ERA with an excellent 38:6 K:BB across 27.0 innings. He's on schedule for a road start against the Cardinals on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:05 pm

    • Paul Skenes fans eight Dodgers, moves to 3-0
Paul Skenes improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs in five innings and striking out eight Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Skenes surrendered homers to Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages, matching his total of two allowed in his first four starts, but he once against received ample run support from a Pirates offense that has often scuffled for, well, going on 30 years now. The team has scored 10, nine, six, 10 and nine runs in Skenes’ five starts. That’s 11 more runs in five games than the 33 runs totaled in Jared Jones’ 12 starts this season. • Nick Castellanos homers, Phillies sweep Brewers
Nick Castellanos swatted a two-run homer on Wednesday, lifting the Phillies to a 2-0 victory over the Brewers.

Advice: Castellanos connected for a 402-foot blast off Brewers southpaw Aaron Ashby in the fifth inning for his eighth big fly of the season. It wound up being the lone tally for either side in a rare low-scoring showdown at Citizens Bank Park and was more than enough run support for Aaron Nola and the Phillies’ bullpen in this one. The 32-year-old corner outfielder has homered twice in this last seven contests since May 29. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:53 pm

    • Aaron Nola fires seven scoreless to beat Brewers
Aaron Nola fired seven shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Nola scattered a pair of hits and recorded five strikeouts on Wednesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, combining with relievers Jeff Hoffman and José Alvarado on a three-hit shutout. The 31-year-old righty has been a model of consistency over the last few weeks, allowing two earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts since May 14. He’ll carry a strong 2.77 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 76/22 K/BB ratio across 84 1/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt next Thursday against the Red Sox at historic Fenway Park. • Provides only offense in win
Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: The veteran outfielder provided the game's only offense by taking Aaron Ashby deep in the fifth inning. Castellanos is beginning to climb out of his early season hole, batting .270 (17-for-63) over his last 16 games with four of his eight homers on the season, along with 11 runs and 11 RBI. • Blanks Brew Crew for eighth win
Nola (8-2) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering two hits over seven scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Brewers. He struck out five without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran right-hander was dominant as he delivered his fourth straight quality start and eighth of the season, firing 68 of 93 pitches for strikes. Nola will take a 2.77 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 76:22 K:BB through 84.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Boston. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:27 pm
