    • Cole Ragans to start on Sunday against Padres
Cole Ragans will start on Sunday against the Padres.

Advice: Ragans will take the ball on regular rest for Sunday’s series finale against San Diego with Brady Singer needing some extra rest as he continues to recover from an illness. Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Saturday that Singer could slot into the rotation for Wednesday’s contest against the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 10:39 am

    • Fans nine batters in defeat
Pivetta (2-4) took the loss against Detroit on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Pivetta's nine punchouts were his most since his season debut March 29, and the outing was a nice bounce-back from his five-run, 3.1-inning start his previous time on the mound. However, Boston's offense couldn't generate any runs, saddling the right-hander with his fourth loss. Pivetta has had a couple poor starts this season, but he's allowed two or fewer earned runs in five of his seven appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:49 pm

    • Nick Pivetta strikes out nine, still takes loss
Nick Pivetta struck out nine while allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings, but still was charged with a loss Thursday against the Tigers.

Advice: Pivetta gave up only three hits while walking two. He allowed a solo homer to Akil Baddoo, and another run crossed on an RBI single from Mark Canha. The right-hander has struck out at least eight batters in three of his last four chances, and he’s given up no more than two runs in those outings. Pivetta can drive fantasy managers mad with the occasional clunker, but the strikeouts are usually there. He’ll take a 4.08 ERA into his next scheduled outing against Atlanta on Wednesday. • Limits damage in loss
Ragans (4-4) took the loss Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk across five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Ragans stranded a runner in all five of his innings pitched and had a difficult time getting through a Twins lineup that featured seven righties and a pair of switch hitters. The southpaw relied heavily on his ability to miss bats, inducing 14 whiffs and generating seven or more strikeouts for the fifth time in his last six starts. Ragans will close out his two-start week with a home outing against the Padres on Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:30 pm

    • Cole Ragans allows three earned runs in loss
Cole Ragans allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Ragans ran into trouble in the first inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to his first two batters faced, only to see both players score on a Jose Miranda single a few batters later. Ragans would allow another run in the fourth on a Manuel Margot double, as the left was hit around for much of the evening. His nine hits allowed tied for the second-most he’s allowed on the season, as Ragans has struggled at times to limit base runners despite a solid 3.49 ERA. He walked 30 batters while walking eight this month and is scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against the Padres. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:36 pm

    • Roughed up by Milwaukee
Pivetta (2-3) took a loss Saturday against the Brewers, yielding five runs on seven hits and three walks over just 3.1 innings. He notched three strikeouts.

Advice: Pivetta struck out two in a 1-2-3 first inning, but it was a struggle after that. He managed to escape a bases-loaded situation in the second inning, but in the third the Brewers had six straight runners reach base (five via hits) with two outs and scored five runs. Pivetta has now had two great outings but also two duds since coming back from the injured list. If there's a positive to take away from this one it's that he didn't give up a home run after he surrendered six in his prior three starts. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:15 pm

    • Pivetta struggles over 3 1/3 in loss to Brewers
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs while working 3 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday to the Brewers.

Advice: Pivetta was outstanding while allowing just one hit and one run against the Cardinals on Sunday. He didn’t match that success Saturday. The right-hander allowed seven hits, and he also issued three walks in a start where Pivetta was fine over the first two frames, but gave up five in a disastrous third inning. He’ll get a chance to rebound against the Tigers next week, assuming no changes to the order of the rotation. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:02 pm

    • Fans career-high 12 in win
Ragans (4-3) picked up the win in Wednesday's 8-3 victory over the Tigers, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: A clash with fellow star southpaw Tarik Skubal brought out the best in Ragans, who fanned a career-high 12 batters and generated a whopping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches. The 26-year-old has reeled off 13 straight shutout innings over his last two starts, and he'll take a 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Minnesota. • Cole Ragans strikes out 12 in win over Tigers
Cole Ragans recorded 12 strikeouts over six scoreless innings on Wednesday in a win over the Tigers.

Advice: Ragans held up his end of the bargain in a highly-anticipated matchup against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, limiting Detroit’s offense to just one hit and three walks over six shutout frames. The 26-year-old emerging ace generated 15 swinging strikes and a near-elite 35 percent CSW, finishing with a season-high 12 punchouts. He’ll carry a solid 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76/21 K/BB ratio across 62 innings (11 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Twins. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:38 pm
