    • Alex Bregman homers from fifth spot in lineup
Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 and hit a homer that accounted for both Astros runs Tuesday in the loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Bregman had the nice game after switching places with Jeremy Peña and being dropped to the fifth spot in the lineup. Perhaps it means he’ll resume batting cleanup Wednesday, but the Astros truly have bigger concerns at the moment. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:00 pm

    • Gets out of jam for ninth save
Duran picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, allowing two hits and no walks with a strikeout over one scoreless inning.

Advice: Duran surrendered a leadoff double to Salvador Perez and then a single to Adam Frazier, putting runners on the corners with no outs in the ninth. However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin back-to-back to keep the Royals off the scoreboard. After taking back-to-back losses in the middle of May, Duran has rebounded with five straight saves, yielding one earned run across 4.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:37 pm

    • Jhoan Duran picks up eighth save vs. Royals
Jhoan Duran earned his eighth save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Royals.

Advice: Back-to-back hits to kick off the ninth got Duran in trouble early, but he was able to buckle down and retire his remaining batters to earn the win for the Twins, who have now won six of their last seven. Duran now has eight saves on the season and has yet to blow a save in any of his outings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Day off Tuesday
Bohm isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Tuesday's game against San Francisco, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bohm is batting .311 on the season, but he will get a day to regroup Tuesday after going 6-for-30 (.200) across his last seven contests. Kody Clemens will fill in at the hot corner and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:10 pm

    • Alec Bohm getting night off Tuesday vs. Giants
Alec Bohm is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Giants.

Advice: Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters late Monday that Bohm is dealing with a few lingering physical issues, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he’s getting a rare night off to rest and recover. The 27-year-old infielder is off to the best season of his career so far with a robust .862 OPS with five homers and a National League-leading 47 RBI through 54 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:11 pm

    • Dealing with back tightness
Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lower-back tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 21-year-old missed some time in mid-May due to a back issue, and it apparently remains bothersome as the month comes to a close. Carter is without a hit in his past 20 at-bats, and the injury could help explain some of those struggles. It's unclear how long the young outfielder is expected to be sidelined, but the organization will likely want him to get some at-bats in the minors before he rejoins the big club. • Slumping Evan Carter hits IL with back tightness
Rangers placed OF Evan Carter on the 10-day injured list with a back sprain.

Advice: Carter will ostensibly swap places with fellow top prospect Wyatt Langford as he’ll get some extra time off in an effort to reset mentally after batting just .165 (15-for-91) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 contests. The 21-year-old top prospect hits the shelf in the midst of an 0-for-20 hitless streak at the dish dating back to May 10. It’s far too early to be concerned long-term with Carter, but this season has certainly been an unexpected speed bump following last year’s stellar late-season debut and playoff performance. • Headed to injured list
The Rangers will place Carter (undisclosed) on the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Carter has missed some time this month with a back issue, although it's unclear whether that's the injury that's sending him to the IL. The young outfielder is hitless over his last nine contests and has struggled mightily so far this season, slashing just .188/.272/.361. It's not clear how long Carter might be sidelined. • Getting breather
Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Despite Kansas City facing a right-hander Tuesday, Melendez will miss the Royals starting nine. Instead, Garrett Hampson will play left field and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:21 pm
