      Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs.       Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in a win over the A’s on Sunday.

      Advice: Not many people are talking about Altuve, but he’s having yet another solid year with a .296/.353/.468 triple slash to go along with nine home runs, 20 RBI, and eight steals.       Altuve went 3-for-5 with one run scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Athletics.

      Advice: Altuve went 0-for-9 over his previous two games, which marked the first time he'd been held hitless in consecutive contests all year. Friday's effort was his seventh three-hit effort of the campaign. The second baseman's consistency atop the Astros' order is impressive, though he hadn't produced a multi-hit effort since May 5.       Betts went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a walk in Friday's loss to the Reds.

      Advice: Betts led the game off with a single, knocked an RBI double in the second inning and added another double in the fourth. He entered Friday in a small slump, going 4-for-22 (.182) over his previous six contests. Despite the skid, he's hitting .291 through 20 games this month.     • Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
      Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

      Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers.       Advice: Altuve led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, his eighth of the season and first since April 28. He's hit a moderate slump in May, as he's hitting .243 with six RBI and nine runs scored across 17 games, though he has chipped in three stolen bases. Altuve has maintained a .854 OPS across the first 207 plate appearances of the campaign, so there's little reason for concern about his slightly slower stretch of production.       Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Sunday's 9-1 win over Atlanta.

      Advice: Cronenworth opened up the scoring with a two-run blast off Bryce Elder in the opening frame for his only hit of the night. Cronenworth owns a 140 wRC+, which is currently third in baseball among all qualified first basemen, behind only Freddie Freeman and Bryce Harper. Cronenworth is putting together an excellent campaign and is currently slashing .275/.344/.485 with eight homers, 30 RBI, 21 runs and a 17:33 BB:K in 192 plate appearances.       Jake Cronenworth smashed a two-run homer on Sunday night, helping to propel the Padres to a lopsided victory over the Braves.

      Advice: Cronenworth victimized Braves’ starter Bryce Elder in the opening inning with his two-out, 392-foot (101.3 mph EV) two-run blast that gave the Padres the early lead.
