• Blake Walston denied win after exiting in fifth
Blake Walston yielded two runs in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Giants.

Advice: Walston didn’t get a chance to go for his first big-league victory, as the Diamondbacks pulled him with a 4-1 lead in the fifth. To be fair, he did have two runners on base at the time. The Diamondbacks summoned Kevin Ginkel, usually more of a late-game reliever, and he stranded one of the two runners to make it 4-2. Walston has a 2.84 ERA after two starts and one relief appearance, but it’s concerning that he’s walked nine batters in 12 2/3 innings. He’ll likely get at least one more start before Zac Gallen returns. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

  • Kyle Harrison takes loss after quality start
Kyle Harrison gave up four runs — three earned — over six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Technically, it’s Harrison’s second quality start since the beginning of May. The Giants would have liked a little more from him tonight, but the bullpen was the bigger problem. Harrison is now 4-3 with a 4.18 ERA, though the Giants have gone 9-4 in his starts. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago
  • Another strong outing
Sanchez allowed one run on four hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday. He struck out three.

Advice: Sanchez has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in five of his previous six outings and one or fewer in seven of his last 10. The left-hander's ERA is down to 2.71 on the year with a 1.34 WHIP and 59:21 K:BB across 12 starts (66.1 innings). Sanchez is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Red Sox next week in his next outing. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
  • Excels in first rehab start
Cole (elbow) completed 3.1 scoreless innings in a minor-league rehab start with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out five batters.

Advice: In the first of what is expected to be multiple rehab outings, Cole threw 45 pitches and hit 97 mph on the radar gun, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. The veteran hurler surrendered a single to the first batter he faced but yielded just one more hit over the remainder of his outing. The beginning of Cole's rehab stint couldn't have gone much better, but he still figures to need at least a couple more appearances in the minors before he's ready to join the Yankees' rotation. If he doesn't experience any setbacks, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner could make his season debut for the big club in the latter half of June. Rotowire.com Today, 10:28 pm

  • George Kirby strikes out nine in defeating A’s
George Kirby fanned nine while allowing two runs over five innings in the Mariners’ 4-3 win over the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: This wasn’t Kirby’s smoothest outing, but it was good enough to get him back on the board for the first time in a few weeks. It’s just the second time this season he’s been credited with a victory in an outing in which he’s given up a run. He’s currently 5-5 with a 4.05 ERA and a 74/7 K/BB in 73 1/3 innings. • Mitch Spence charged with four runs in loss
Mitch Spence surrendered four runs in six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Spence’s arsenal appears average at best, but he’s thus far held his own in going 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA. The ERA likely will rise if he remains in the rotation, but the early results suggest the Rule 5 pick will at least hold his own in middle relief. Rotoworld Today, 10:25 pm

  • Tagged for nine runs
Luzardo (2-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Rays, allowing nine runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Luzardo got off to a solid start Tuesday, holding Tampa scoreless through his first three innings. However, he'd surrender four runs in the fourth, including three on a Brandon Lowe homer, before the Rays would proceed to put up a five spot in the fifth. It was ultimately a brutal outing for Luzardo, who came into the day with a 1.99 ERA over his previous five starts. His ERA shot up from 4.18 to 5.30 with a 1.25 WHIP and 52:18 K:BB across 56 innings this season. Luzardo will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for this weekend at home versus the Guardians. Rotowire.com Today, 10:12 pm

  • Patrick Sandoval solid for six against Padres
Patrick Sandoval pitched six innings and allowed just one run Tuesday in the Angels’ 4-2 victory over the Padres.

Advice: He fanned seven. Unfortunately, Sandoval didn’t get the win, as the Angels didn’t take a lead until the bottom of the seventh. As unlucky as he’s been in the results department, Sandoval is at least fortunate that the Angels soured on Reid Detmers first. Sandoval doesn’t deserve to be 2-8 with a 5.00 ERA while his xERA, SIERA and FIP are all at least a run lower, but if the Angels believed in those kinds of numbers, Detmers would still be in the majors right now. • Adam Mazur allows just one run in MLB debut
Adam Mazur allowed just one run and two hits over six innings against the Angels in his major league debut Tuesday.

Advice: Less impressive was that Mazur struck out two and walked four, but he allowed only four hard-hit balls and both hits were singles. He’ll get to stick in the Padres rotation for now, but we wouldn’t recommend him in shallow leagues just yet. Rotoworld Today, 9:52 pm
