• Shifted to 60-day IL
The Orioles transferred Means (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Advice: The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Levi Stoudt, who was claimed off waivers. Means is done for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last week. Rotowire.com Today, 11:29 am

  • Orioles claim Levi Stoudt off waivers from Seattle
Orioles claimed RHP Levi Stoudt off waivers from the Mariners and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: This one probably won’t pay off for the Orioles, but since they could easily open up the 40-man spot, there’s no harm in taking a look. Stoudt, 26, had spent the entire year at Triple-A Tacoma after being claimed off waivers from the Reds in February and went 3-4 with a 6.92 ERA and a 36/30 K/BB in 52 innings. He made his major league debut with Cincinnati last season, posting a 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings then. Rotoworld Today, 11:28 am

  • Claimed by O's
The Orioles claimed Stoudt off waivers from Seattle on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

Advice: The Mariners DFA'd Stoudt on Sunday after he turned in a 6.92 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through 52 innings with their Triple-A affiliate. He'll now get another shot in Baltimore's farm system, though he will remain in Triple-A for now. Given his lack of recent success in the minors and a career 9.58 ERA in the majors, Stoudt would likely need to turn things around significantly before he gets a shot in Baltimore. • Could start rehab games Tuesday
Contreras (forearm) is hoping to begin a rehab assignment around June 18, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Contreras is just five weeks into a projected 10-week timetable following surgery to repair a fractured left forearm, but Goold writes that the catcher is "eager to push the timetable for his return." He took batting practice in the cage Thursday and has been catching bullpen sessions without issue. If Contreras is indeed able to start a rehab assignment by Tuesday, he could be just a week or so away from activation. Rotowire.com Today, 11:26 am

  • Optioned to Louisville
The Reds optioned Dunn to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Advice: Dunn was added to the Reds' roster June 4, and he managed to record one hit in 10 at-bats during his first seven games as a big-leaguer. The 25-year-old is slashing .216/.343/.372 in Triple-A and could return to the majors down the line if Cincinnati's outfield depth is tested. Rotowire.com Today, 11:13 am

  • Taking full BP in cage
Contreras (forearm) will take full batting practice in the indoor batting cage Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Contreras is barely more than a month removed from surgery to repair a fractured left forearm. He was given a 10-week timetable to return following the operation but would appear to be ahead of schedule, given that he's already taking batting practice. Before being activated from the injured list, Contreras will surely need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but it's uncertain when he might be cleared to join one of the Cardinals' affiliates for game action. • Swipes first bag
Walls went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored Wednesday against the Cubs.

Advice: Walls has started five of six games since being activated from the injured list, though he's collected just two hits in 14 at-bats. Positively, he stole his first base of the season Wednesday, suggesting he'll still be willing to run even after returning from a serious hip injury. Rotowire.com Today, 7:02 am

  • Shohei Ohtani blasts 17th homer in loss to Rangers
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Ohtani put the Dodgers on the board with a solo homer off Jon Gray in the first inning. It was one of only two runs the Dodgers would score on Texas in the game. The 29-year-old superstar is slashing .311/.383/.587 with 17 homers, 51 runs scored, 44 RBI, and 15 steals across 300 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:13 pm
