    • Back in Cincinnati lineup
Friedl will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Friedl missed two games after his hamstring tightened up on him Monday, but he's ready to go now following the Reds' team off day Thursday. Although he's slashed just .214/.320/.381 so far in an injury-shortened season, Friedl does have four home runs and six stolen bases over 97 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

    • Continues power surge Thursday
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games. • On base five times in win
Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: This was the catcher's second multi-hit effort over his last nine games, a span in which he's gone a meager 7-for-35 (.200). Rutschman started the year hot at the plate, but his struggles haven't cost him much playing time and he remains productive. He's hitting .293 with an .814 OPS, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 39 runs scored and one stolen base over 70 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm

    • Nails down 21st save
Finnegan struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over Arizona.

Advice: The right-hander breezed through the Diamondbacks' 5-6-7 hitters on 14 pitches (11 strikes) en route to his eighth straight successful conversion. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency. • Posts another quality start
Ryan allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Advice: Ryan gave up a third-inning solo homer to Isaac Paredes but otherwise kept the Rays off the scoreboard. The right-handed hurler racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes, though he finished with a modest five punchouts. Ryan recorded his third straight quality start and his 11th of the season, which is tied for fifth in the majors. He's complemented that total with a 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 95:15 K:BB over 92 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:04 pm

    • Strikes out six in win
Bello (7-4) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Bello threw three scoreless innings before loading the bases in the fourth, but he managed to limit the damage to two runs and responded with two more scoreless frames before leaving the game with a 5-2 lead. This was Bello's first quality start since May 22 and his best performance in June, as he surrendered 14 total runs over his first three June outings. On the season, Bello owns a 4.83 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 62:26 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a rematch with the Blue Jays next week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:53 pm

    • Joe Ryan pitches well in no-decision vs. Rays
Joe Ryan was terrific in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday evening, surrendering just one run on six hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on a 359-foot solo blast off the bat of Isaac Paredes in the third inning. Ryan generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame — 12 of those on his fastball — while registering a strong CSW of 36 percent. The right-hander will carry a terrific 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 95/15 K/BB ratio (92 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:57 pm

    • Brayan Bello solid over six innings in win
Brayan Bello punched out six Red Sox across six innings on Wednesday in a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays. He walked two and allowed two earned runs on his way to securing the victory.

Advice: Bello showed a great approach in this one: leaning on his sinker and slider against right-handed batters while mixing those two with a heavy dose of changeups against lefties. He kept the ball on the edges and his velocity was up a tick across the board. The Blue Jays have made plenty of pitchers look great this season, but seeing Bello command his nasty arsenal is a welcome sight. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:13 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Diamondbacks in ninth
Kyle Finnegan slammed the door on the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning on Wednesday, retiring all three hitters that he faced to preserve a two-run advantage.

Advice: Finnegan picked up his 21st save of the season for his efforts. The 32-year-old hurler made things look easy in this one, getting Joc Pederson on a ground ball to first and then striking out Eugenio Suarez and Gabriel Moreno to end it. While his job security was shaky heading into the season, Finnegan has been an absolute monster for fantasy managers this season, posting a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and a 33/10 K/BB ratio over 31 1/3 innings of work while converting 21 of his 23 save chances and chipping in two victories for good measure.
