    • Cole Ragans pitches well in no decision
Cole Ragans allowed one run on five hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Sunday.

Advice: The left-hander struck out six and walked two on the day while recording 14 whiffs on 46 swings for a 30 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW. He had some issues finding the strike zone with his off-speed pitches, but the induced whiffs outside of the zone and the Padres were unable to square him up. He now has a 3.21 ERA on the season and is a must-start every week, including next week against the Mariners. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • Nico Hoerner has two hits in loss to Reds
Nico Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Hoerner has been slowly increasing his batting average in recent weeks and is up to .262/.351/.366 on the season; however, he didn’t attempt a stolen base today and has just six on the season. After stealing 43 bases last year, it’s discouraging to see Hoerner not running as often. It could partially be a hamstring issue he’s been dealing with or a new philosophy under manager Craig Counsell, but since Hoerner doesn’t have much power, his fantasy value will take a big hit if he’s only a 25-stolen-base hitter who will hit .270-.280. If you need the steals, you should still keep Hoerner in your lineup, but if you’re OK on speed and somebody makes a compelling offer, he could be a player you’re OK parting with. • Freddy Peralta inconsistent in win over White Sox
Freddy Peralta allowed three runs on four hits in five innings in a win over the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Peralta was far more good than bad, striking out seven and walking one while allowing an 88.3 mph average exit velocity. He induced 21 whiffs on 56 swings for a 38 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. However, he allowed three hits and a walk in the first inning and then a home run later to Paul DeJong to put a damper on his day. The right-hander now sports a 3.74 ERA but remains a must-start in fantasy baseball, especially next week against the Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 1:52 pm
    • Andrew Heaney stifles Marlins in win on Sunday
Andrew Heaney threw six shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: The left-hander allowed just four hits and struck out seven while walking none. Heaney leaned heavily on his slider and change-up, getting a 42 percent whiff rate or higher on both pitches despite not throwing either one in the zone more than 40 percent of the time. It may have mainly been about who he was facing, but fantasy managers with Heaney won’t complain. The let-hander now has a 3.99 ERA on the year and could keep it going next week in a decent start against the Giants. Rotoworld Today, 1:43 pm
    • Jake Irvin strikes out six in win
Jake Irvin allowed two earned runs across six innings on Sunday as the Nationals defeated the Guardians 5-2. He struck out six, walked one, and earned the victory.

Advice: Irvin’s strong season continued Sunday as he stifled the red-hot Guardians. He gave Cleveland a steady diet of curveballs in the strike zone - the pitch had a 73% zone rate - to which they let nine go by for called strikes and swung and missed at six more for a 38% CSW. Irvin has leaned on that curveball as his primary pitch for most of the season and it’s turned him into a very useful starter with a 3.39 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 69 innings. Rotoworld Today, 1:12 pm
    • Gerrit Cole will need at least two rehab starts
Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Sunday that Gerrit Cole (elbow) will need at least a couple of minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to make his 2024 debut.

Advice: Cole will make his first minor league rehab start at Double-A Somerset on Tuesday. His next turn will come five days after that. If he needs just two starts, his regular season debut would likely come against the Red Sox at some point during their series starting on June 14. If he needs a third tune-up in the minor leagues, it’s likely that his debut would come the following week against the Braves. As long as he avoids any setbacks, his return appears to be imminent. • Getting rest Sunday
Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Diaz will receive a breather for the series finale in Los Angeles after he had started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rockies' previous six games. Jacob Stallings will handle catching duties Sunday in Diaz's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 12:46 pm

    • Beginning rehab stint Tuesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Somerset, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old has thrown multiple sessions of live batting practice over the past couple weeks and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Cole will require multiple outings in the minors before being ready to join the Yankees, but he's on track to make his season debut during the second half of June. Rotowire.com Today, 11:30 am

    • Gerrit Cole (elbow) starting Tuesday in Double-A
Gerrit Cole (elbow) will make a rehab start for Double-A Somerset on Tuesday.

Advice: Cole threw a 43-pitch simulated game Thursday, and now he’ll get a chance to face minor-league hitters as the next stop in his progression. The 33-year-old has missed all of 2024 thus far with his elbow injury, but assuming there are no setbacks, it’s likely the 2023 Cy Young winner will be back in action in the middle of June.
