      Advice: Irvin had a hard time with the Yankees' lineup for much of the afternoon, allowing runs in three of the five innings in which he appeared before being relieved by Bryan Baker. The lefty surrendered two home runs in the contest, something he hadn't done in any of his previous starts coming in, while also matching his season high with five runs allowed. Irvin had gone at least five innings in four consecutive starts prior to Thursday's game and will look to bounce back next week when the Orioles take on the Guardians in Baltimore.       Advice: Irvin gave up five hits, walked two and struck out two. He didn’t complete five innings and thus didn’t qualify for the win in the Orioles’ blowout victory, a brutal beat of fantasy managers. Irvin is having a solid year with a 3.45 ERA and six wins.     • Yu Darvish ready to return next week for Padres
      Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters Yu Darvish (groin) will return next week.

      Advice: No definitive date yet for Darvish to rejoin San Diego’s starting rotation, but he figures to take the ball at some point during their next series against the Nationals, most likely on Tuesday in place of rookie Adam Mazur. The 37-year-old veteran righty made it through Wednesday’s minor league rehab outing for High-A Fort Wayne without any issues and is on track to return next week.       Pete Fairbanks (thumb) blew a save while allowing a run against the Twins on Thursday, but worked two innings to get the victory.

      Advice: Fairbanks entered the game with a couple of runners on and Tampa Bay holding a 6-3 cushion. He was able to get the first two outs, but then gave up a game-tying homer to Jose Miranda to blow the save. He was able to get the final three outs after the Rays scored in the 10th, however, so he gets the win. he right-hander missed a couple of days while dealing with a thumb injury, so the positive is he was back on the mound and does at least get a win.       Advice: Jones will miss his second straight game with an illness as Sean Bouchard fills in for him in left field and bats second. Jones has looked better since coming off the IL, going 5-for-13 (.385) with one stolen base and just two strikeouts to eight walks.
