• Collects first career save
Estrada picked up the save Friday against Atlanta. He pitched a clean inning with three strikeouts.

Advice: Estrada notched his first career save Friday night, retiring the bottom of the order via three strikeouts in 16 pitches. The 25-year-old reliever has dazzled in his first 10.2 innings this season, firing a 0.84 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 13 strikeouts. However, there shouldn't be any closer controversy in San Diego as Robert Suarez was called upon earlier in a high-leverage spot, facing the heart of the talented Atlanta lineup in the eighth inning Friday night. • Blake Snell strikes out 10 in rehab start Friday
Blake Snell was outstanding in Friday’s minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento, piling up 10 strikeouts over five innings of no-hit baseball.

Advice: The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect. Look for him to slot back into the team’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week. Prior to landing on the injured list, Snell had gone 0-3 with an 11.57 ERA and 1.97 WHIP over his first three starts. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago
  • Fans 10 in win
Waldron (2-5) earned the win Friday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Waldron made the Atlanta lineup look uncomfortable in the batter's box all Friday night with his patented knuckleball. The San Diego right-hander used 98 pitches to reach double-digit strikeouts in a start for the first time in his career. Waldron sports a 5.00 ERA in 45 innings this season, but has been slightly unlucky, as evidenced by his 3.98 FIP. The knuckleballer lines up to face the Reds on the road for his next outing. • Tagged for nine hits in loss
Fried (3-2) took the loss Friday against the Padres, yielding three runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Fried turned in his worst outing Friday since allowing seven runs on 10 hits against Arizona on April 6. The Atlanta lefty generated a measly four whiffs over his 88 pitches as the Padres lineup had his number all night. Fried looks to bounce back in his next start, slated to be against the Cubs in Chicago. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Josh Hader holds former team scoreless for save
Josh Hader didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Hader gets the save against one of his former employers in Milwaukee. The southpaw has now saved six games in 2024, and he’s nearly halved his 8.38 ERA on April 19 to 4.50. The issues Hader was dealing with in the earliest portion of the campaign appear to have mostly subsided. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
  • Freddy Peralta allows eight hits, five runs in loss
Freddy Peralta was charted for five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Friday.

Advice: Both Hunter Brown and Peralta gave up all of their damage via the long-ball in this contest, and in Peralta’s case, he gave up a two-run homer to Jake Meyers and a three-run blast to Jeremy Peña. Outside of those blasts the right-hander was mostly effective, but damage done. It’s the second time in five starts he’s allowed at least five runs, and a 1.90 ERA on April 19 has ballooned to 4.17. He’ll look to get back on track against the Marlins next week. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
  • Hunter Brown allows four in win over Brewers
Hunter Brown gave up four runs in five innings but still picked up the win Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Brown allows four hits — two of them homers, including a three-run homer by Joey Ortiz — and he walked three while striking out five. It’s another mediocre start from the right-hander, and mediocre seems to be pretty kind at this stage. It’s never a good sign when five innings of four-run baseball sees your ERA drop to 7.71. That being said, it was good enough for the win Friday, and it’s the first of the season for Brown. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
  • Tyler Alexander wins, pitches into eighth inning
Tyler Alexander pitched a career-high 7 ⅓ innings in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. He allowed three runs, three hits, and struck out four.

Advice: It’s been a trying season for Alexander as he’s fully transitioned into a starter’s role with the Tampa Bay rotation strapped for depth and this was his best start. It’s still difficult to trust him moving forward. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
  • Peter Fairbanks earns fourth save on Friday
Peter Fairbanks worked a clean ninth inning striking out one Blue Jays on Friday for his fourth save.

Advice: Fairbanks finally saved his first game since returning from the IL. He’s allowed no earned runs with six strikeouts across four innings and looks back to his normal, dominant self. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
