      Justin Turner is once again riding the pine for Monday’s series opener against the Orioles.

      Advice: It appears as though Father Time may have caught up to the 39-year-old slugger, as Turner is slashing a miserable .212/.299/.341 on the season with just four homers and 20 RBI. He was even worse in the month of May — hitting a cringe-inducing .111/.210/.139 with zero homers and five RBI.       Muncy (oblique) said Sunday he's been shut down from swinging for the past 7-to-10 days after he felt a "twinge" around his rib cage, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: The 33-year-old landed on the injured list in mid-May with the oblique strain and doesn't appear to have made significant progress in his recovery. Per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Muncy was able to field groundballs Sunday but is shut down from most baseball activities, so he's likely not particularly close to returning from the 10-day injured list.     • Still no timetable for Muncy’s (oblique) return
      Max Muncy (oblique) told reporters Sunday that he remains without a timetable to return to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Muncy felt something while swinging a bat around a week ago and has been shut down from all baseball activities. The 33-year-old has been on the injured list with an oblique strain May 17 with some hope that it’d be a short-term stint, but obviously that wasn’t/isn’t the case.       Hayes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: The third baseman took Yusei Kikuchi deep in the first inning, helping to kick-start what proved to be a laugher for the Pirates. It was only Hayes' second long ball of the season and his first in three games since recovering from back issues and coming off the IL.     • Ke’Bryan Hayes belts two-run homer in victory
      Ke’Bryan Hayes went 2-for-4 and belted a two-run homer on Saturday, powering the Pirates to a lopsided 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

      Advice: Hayes put the exclamation point on a three-run first inning for the Pirates with his 404-foot (107.8 mph EV) two-run blast off of Yusei Kikuchi. That would be more than enough run support for Mitch Keller and company in this one. Hayes also led off the sixth inning with a single and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jared Triolo.
