      Carter started in center field and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's 6-0 win over Washington.

      Advice: Carter got the rare start against a left-hander and produced his second hit in 16 at-bats against a southpaw. Texas manager Bruce Bochy has shied away from using Carter in these situations but gave him a shot Thursday with Leody Taveras getting the night off. Rangers general manager Chris Young explained to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that Carter has not faced the quality of stuff that major-league lefties have at this point in his MLB career, suggesting they are bringing the 21-year-old along slowly in that regard. "I think [Bochy] is doing a very good job of giving him his fair share of at-bats against lefties knowing that there's only one way to develop, and that's to go through it," the GM said.       Advice: Eovaldi, who was removed from Thursday's win over the Nationals, will travel with the club to Kansas City, where he will undergo the procedure. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said they are "being cautious" with the 34-year-old Eovaldi, whose next turn is due Tuesday. Nothing will be determined until after results of the imaging are interpreted, but Bochy indicated the pitcher "may need some rest" and that the team is "going to take care of him." He'd add a second RBI with a base hit in the fifth, extending the lead to 4-1, before scoring on a Jordan Westburg triple. It was a nice finish to the series for the 27-year-old Mountcastle, who'd gone 0-for-12 in the first three games against New York.       Advice: Eovaldi will continue to undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on Friday following an early exit from Thursday afternoon’s showdown with a trainer after 92 pitches through 5 2/3 scoreless frames. The 34-year-old righty finished with eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. He was unlikely to work much further into the contest, but the fact that he’s dealing with a groin issue certainly puts his next start in serious jeopardy.
