      Advice: The 21-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since Saturday due to stiffness in his lower back. The good news is that he’s progressing and won’t require a trip to the injured list, and likely wouldn’t have been in the starting lineup anyways on Friday with left-hander Tyler Anderson taking the ball for the Angels.       Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Carter (back) is available off the bench for Friday's series opener against the Angels, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Carter hasn't played since May 10 against the Rockies due to lower-back inflammation. He received a cortisone shot Monday, and while he won't be starting Friday, he could make a return to the lineup over the weekend.       Ronald Acuña Jr. is back in the lineup, batting first for the Braves against the Padres on Friday.

      Advice: Acuña received the day off on Wednesday as the Braves look for him to break out of his slump. He went 0-for-5 at the plate on Tuesday, which dropped his average to .245 on the season.     • Braves coaches think Acuña needs a “detox”
      According to Ken Suguira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves gave Ronald Acuña Jr. the day off on Wednesday because they wanted him to “detox” as a way to break his slump.

      Advice: Acuña’s batting average (.245), slugging percentage (.342), and home-run rate (one per 51.7 at-bats) are all beneath the single-season lows in his seven-year career, as the 26-year-old tries to follow up a historically good season. “You can just read their faces sometimes, and actions,” said Braves coach Brian Snitker. “And it’s like, ‘Well, it’s time.’ Kid needs a little breather here. He’s played every inning of every game. It’s not a bad thing to sit and watch sometimes.” Braves coaches, Eddie Pérez and Tom Goodwin, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe that Acuña is pressing. “Sometimes, you force some things,” Goodwin said. Perhaps with a short break, Acuña will get back to the level everybody has seen him produce at before. Fantasy managers should clearly keep him in the lineup and hope he gets it going soon.       Santander was removed from Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with a double.

      Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. The injury doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day Thursday will be enough rest for Santander.       Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side.
