      Advice: Pillar had gone 1-for-10 over his first four games in June before this multi-hit effort. His second-inning homer was all the Angels could put up against Framber Valdez, who pitched a complete game. Pillar is up to seven homers, 26 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .324/.379/.590 slash line over 117 plate appearances between the Angels and the White Sox this season. Despite his strong numbers recently, he's been on the bench for two of the last five games, which suggests Pillar doesn't have a full-time role against right-handed pitchers.       Gomber did not factor into the decision in Friday's 8-5 loss to St. Louis, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: The former Cardinal Gomber was unsteady out the gate in his first outing at Busch Stadium since Aug. 18, 2022. The Colorado southpaw allowed three runs on four hits in the first inning and never recovered. Despite the four-run evening, Gomber has been surprisingly solid this year and now sports a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 47:21 K:BB over 66.2 innings.       Diaz went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 7-1 win over the Angels.

      Advice: Diaz opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the seventh. He's gone yard in four straight contests, an impressive run of power after he went 39 games without a homer prior to this surge. The catcher is at a .258/.285/.416 slash line, seven long balls, 32 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 56 contests. With Kyle Tucker (lower leg) going on the injured list Friday, Yordan Alvarez has seen more time in the field, giving the Astros the option of moving Diaz to designated hitter rather than having him at catcher full-time in the short term.       Austin Gomber didn’t qualify for a decision after allowing four runs in five innings Friday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Gomber — a former St. Louis prospect who came to the Rockies in the Nolan Arenado deal — gave up six hits with one walk, and he struck out four. The left-hander gave up three runs in the first, and while he settled down over the final four frames, the damage was enough to prevent him from picking up a win or a Quality Start.       Advice: Abrams’ steal was his ninth of the season. After racking up 47 steals last year, fantasy managers sure would like to see him run more this year.       Connor Joe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Twins on Friday.

      Advice: The home run was Joe’s seventh of the year. He’s up to .270 with a .792 OPS on the season. While he’s seen regular playing time this year, he’s certainly proven to be better against left-handed pitching once again.     • Contreras (forearm) expects to return before July
      Willson Contreras told reporters that he expects to return from his forearm injury before July.

      Advice: When asked if he could return as a designated hitter instead of a backstop, Contreras answered with a convincing “hell no.” The backstop did say a return against Chicago next week seemed a little fast ,but he does appear like he’ll beat his All-Star game timeline.       Advice: After needing 78 pitches to get through three frames, Buehler didn't come out for the fourth, marking the 29-year-old's shortest start of 2024. He surrendered a two-run home run to Nick Gonzales in the third inning, the right-hander's seventh long ball allowed in 28.0 innings. Buehler's been shaky since returning from Tommy John surgery, yielding exactly three runs in five of his six starts this season to fuel a 4.82 ERA.       Advice: Abrams broke a scoreless tie in the sixth frame with his leadoff homer against Atlanta starter Reynaldo Lopez. The shortstop came into the contest having gone 1-for-21 over his previous seven games and recently missed time due to a shoulder issue, so the long ball was a much-needed positive development.
