    • Moves to leadoff
Steer batted leadoff and went 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBI in Tuesday's 12-6 win over Colorado.

Advice: Normally the Reds' cleanup hitter, Steer was moved to leadoff when Jonathan India was scratched due to a left knee contusion. Steer, who belted a two-run home run in the seventh inning, has four homers and eight RBI over the last six games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:33 am

    • Homers in three-hit game
Smith went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Smith has hit safely in his last seven games, going 11-for-30 (.367) in that span. His homer Tuesday, a first-inning blast off Roansy Contreras, was Smith's first long ball since June 23. The 26-year-old is up to eight homers, 36 RBI, 42 runs scored, four stolen bases and a .296/.384/.457 slash line over 86 contests this season. Smith's maintained a strong batting average, but he's a bit lacking in over-the-fence power, though he's managed 19 doubles to lead the Rangers in two-baggers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:34 pm

    • Josh Smith goes 3-for-4, homers in Rangers’ win
Josh Smith went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Rangers edged the Angels 5-4 on Tuesday.

Advice: Statcast still thinks Smith’s success is a mirage, but he’s been a big reason the Rangers are still in the race at all this season. He’s batting .296/.384/.457 in 322 plate appearances, and there’s little doubt he’ll keep playing regularly after Josh Jung returns. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 pm

    • Zack Wheeler (back) likely to make next start
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Zack Wheeler (back) is expected to make his next start on Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: Thomson added that Wheeler’s early exit from Tuesday’s start against the Dodgers was merely for precautionary reasons after his back tightened up on him after five innings. The 34-year-old fantasy ace will be re-evaluated on Wednesday out of an abundance of caution, but all indications are that he’ll be ready to take the ball this weekend. • Wheeler earns win despite leaving game early
Zack Wheeler allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Advice: Wheeler left the game after five innings with back tightness, but the Phillies were already up 9-1 at the time, so it’s possible the team was just being cautious with their ace. Wheeler walked two on the day and struck out seven while posting a 31 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. He’s set to pitch against Oakland this weekend, but it’s possible the Phillies could decide to simply rest him with the All-Star break looming. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:42 pm

    • Zack Wheeler exits start with back tightness
Zack Wheeler was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Dodgers due to back tightness.

Advice: It didn’t come as a total surprise to see Wheeler pulled after just 76 pitches, most likely for precautionary reasons, after allowing just one run over five innings with the Phillies holding a commanding eight-run lead at the time. He finished with seven strikeouts and only issued one walk. The 34-year-old fantasy ace, who was named to the NL All-Star roster earlier this week, is tentatively scheduled to take the ball on Sunday for the Phillies’ first-half finale against the Athletics, but that outing might now be in serious jeopardy. There should be some clarity on his status in the next couple days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:35 pm

    • Removed with back tightness
Wheeler was removed from his start Tuesday against the Dodgers due to left lower-back tightness, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wheeler was able to get through five innings in 76 pitches before leaving Tuesday's contest, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. He said after the game that he's not too concerned about his back but noted the tightness is something he's dealt with recently, so the Phillies will certainly keep a close eye on it leading up to the righty's next start -- tentatively scheduled for Sunday. • Luis Rengifo dealing with right wrist inflammation
Luis Rengifo has been diagnosed with right wrist inflammation after visiting a hand specialist.

Advice: There was some uncertainty surrounding Rengifo’s status after he landed on the injured list last Friday with right wrist inflammation. However, it appears that he isn’t dealing with any structural damage that would’ve led to a lengthy absence, and possibly even surgery. Nothing official as far as a timeline goes yet, but it seems like he’ll be back at some point in the next few weeks, if not sooner. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:06 pm

    • Yordan Alvarez back in lineup Tuesday vs. Marlins
Yordan Alvarez (knee) has returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Marlins.

Advice: Alvarez is back at designated hitter and batting third for Tuesday’s series opener against the Marlins following a brief one-game absence due to a right knee contusion stemming from a hit by pitch over the weekend against the Twins. It’s a welcome sign for fantasy managers as it seems to signal that the 27-year-old fantasy superstar is going to be able to play through the ailment until next week’s Midsummer Classic.
