    • Jung Hoo Lee to undergo shoulder surgery next week
Jung Hoo Lee will undergo shoulder surgery on Tuesday.

Advice: Lee will undergo the season-ending procedure early next week in Los Angeles with Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The 25-year-old center fielder suffered structural damage in his shoulder back in mid-May when he collided with the center-field wall at Oracle Park. He’s expected to be ready to roll by the start of spring training, but is facing a lengthy rehabilitation process. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:54 am

    • Goes yard twice in win
Rafaela went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Friday's 7-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Per Ian Browne of MLB.com, Rafaela has made some tweaks to his swing mechanics in an attempt to get going at the plate, and the adjustments seem to be paying off. The 23-year-old put together his first career multi-homer game by launching a three-run shot off Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning before tagging Joey Wentz for a two-run blast in the sixth that just cleared the Green Monster. Over the last 11 games, Rafaela is batting .289 (11-for-38) with three homers, two steals, nine runs and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:02 am

    • Ceddanne Rafaela homers twice in win over Tigers
Ceddanne Rafaela crushed a pair of home runs and drove in five on Friday night, propelling the Red Sox to a lopsided 7-3 victory over the Tigers at Fenway Park.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder broke the game open with a 359-foot (101.0 mph) three-run shot to left off of Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning — giving the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. He added to that lead with a 375-foot (99.5 mph EV) two-run shot off of Joey Wentz in the sixth inning that made it a 7-1 ballgame. Rafaela finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .211/.239/.387 to go along with seven homers and 33 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Friday, 6:42 pm

    • Set for surgery Tuesday
Lee (shoulder) will undergo surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The procedure will address the torn labrum in Lee's left shoulder, which he sustained May 12 against the Reds. Before the injury, Lee was slashing .262/.310/.331 with two home runs and eight RBI over 145 plate appearances. He should be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season. • Ceddanne Rafaela gets a day off on Thursday
Ceddanne Rafaela is not in the Red Sox lineup on Thursday against the Tigers.

Advice: It’s a routine day off for the rookie with David Hamilton playing shortstop, Jarred Duran in center field, and Rob Refsnyder in left field. The rookie continues to struggle with consistency at the plate, but he’s been in the midst of a strong stretch, hitting .273/.294/.394 over the last nine games with two steals, one home run, and seven runs. He has some swing-and-miss in his game, so there will be some ups and downs as he refines his approach, but he does have a fantasy-friendly profile and will remain a fixture in the Red Sox lineup. • Not starting Thursday
Rafaela isn't in Boston's lineup for Thursday's game against Detroit, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Rafaela went 0-for-4 during Wednesday's loss to Baltimore, putting an end to his four-game hit streak. He'll take a seat versus Jack Flaherty and the Tigers while Rob Refsnyder starts in the outfield, moving Connor Wong into the DH role and allowing Reese McGuire to start behind the plate. • Making adjustments
The Red Sox advised Rafaela to hold his hands lower in his stance, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports. He went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to Baltimore and is batting .206 with a 25.7 strikeout percentage.

Advice: The goal of the hands adjustment is to cut down on all the movement needed to catch up to fastballs. "Be on time," Boston manager Alex Cora said. "We've been talking about it, showing him examples. It happens that we're here, too, [in Baltimore] and can use [the Orioles] as an example of how short they are to the ball and how they use their hands." Rafaela's been inconsistent overall but has hit better recently, going 9-for-33 (.273) over the last nine games while batting safely in seven of those contests. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:34 am

    • Mike Trout (knee) starts running on treadmill
Mike Trout (knee) has progressed to running on a treadmill.

Advice: Trout underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and remains without a definitive timetable to return to Los Angeles. He’s expected to resume baseball activities at some point in June. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:58 pm

    • Climbs above .200 again
Rafaela went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Rafaela's eighth-inning double put him in position to score the winning run. He has multiple hits in two straight games and has gone 7-for-22 (.318) over the last six. That's pushed his batting average to .208, the third time he's climbed above the Mendoza Line this season. Rafaela is a bit of conundrum. He leads the Red Sox in RBI (28) and is fifth in extra-base hits (16), but he's not exactly a good hitter. Boston manager Alex Cora told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe that Rafaela has "big moves" in his swing as he tries to hit for power -- how he loads the swing, the leg kick and the swing itself. For long-term success, Cora believes Rafaela needs to shorten his swing. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:45 am
