      Lugo (7-1) earned the win Saturday over the Athletics, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out 10 over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Lugo was able to limit the damage to a two-run home run by Seth Brown in the second inning. This was Lugo's second straight start with double-digit strikeouts, though he came up one out short of a fifth straight quality start. The right-hander is now at a 1.79 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 58:13 K:BB through 65.1 innings over 10 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road against the Rays.     • Hamstring tightened during start
      Gallen revealed after Saturday's start against the Tigers that his right hamstring tightened up on him during the fourth inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: It's the same hamstring that he had issues with earlier this season, which resulted in an early removal from one start and having another pushed back. Gallen wound up pitching into the seventh inning Saturday, ultimately getting charged with three runs on seven hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 frames. The right-hander said after the outing that his hamstring feels fine and he's unconcerned. Still, given that it's been a recurring problem, it's something to keep in mind.     • Blows save, takes loss Saturday
      Finnegan (1-3) took the loss and blew a save against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk over 1.2 innings.

      Advice: Finnegan was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning and got two outs before serving up a game-tying solo homer to Kody Clemens. The contest went into an extra frame, and after Washington failed to score in the top of the 10th, Finnegan was tagged with the loss when Bryce Harper plated the automatic runner on a sacrifice fly. The blown save was just the second for Finnegan this year, with the other coming all the way back on March 31.     • Zac Gallen strikes out 10 in loss to Tigers
      Zac Gallen pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of three-run baseball.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered seven hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He had kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but the wheels fell off in the seventh. After allowing a leadoff double to Gio Urshela, he struck out the next two hitters before allowing an RBI double to Javier Báez and an RBI single to Carson Kelly before turning the ball over to the bullpen — who would allow the inherited runner to score as well. Gallen generated a whopping 20 swings and misses in the ballgame — 12 of those on his knuckle curve — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent.     • Lugo strikes out 10, picks up seventh win Saturday
      Seth Lugo allowed two earned runs and struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings and picked up the win in the Royals’ 5-3 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.



      Advice: The win was Lugo’s seventh of the season and his ERA is 1.79. His 58 strikeouts are in the top 15 for qualified starters. The Royals can’t ask for more than what they’re getting from him right now and the same goes for fantasy managers. The 34-year-old right-hander is scheduled to face the Rays on the road next weekend.

    • Finnegan blows save against the Phillies
      Kyle Finnegan blew his second save of the season against the Phillies on Saturday.



      Advice: Finnegan had two outs in the bottom of the ninth when he allowed a game-tying solo home run to Kody Clemens. Finnegan took the loss as he allowed another run on a game-winning sacrifice fly by Bryce Harper in the 10th inning. He entered play Saturday leading the league with 13 saves, but he was probably due to give up some runs as his ERA is 1.89 but his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.72.

    • Blake Snell strikes out 10 in rehab start Friday
      Blake Snell (adductor) recorded 10 strikeouts over five hitless innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento.

      Advice: He’s ready. The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect, allowing just one walk over five frames. The 31-year-old reigning NL Cy Young Award winner should slot back into San Francisco’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week.     • Emmanuel Clase locks down Twins for save
      Emmanuel Clase worked a clean ninth inning and struck out one Twin to tie the league-lead with 13 saves.

      Advice: Clase has been unhittable this season allowing just one earned run across 22 ⅓ innings. He’s changed up his approach, throwing more cutters and working outside the zone more often.       Clase picked up the save Friday against Minnesota. He pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

      Advice: Clase required only 13 pitches to retire the side in order. The 26-year-old is riding a streak of eight straight scoreless appearances, allowing just one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts and five saves over eight innings.
