    • Notches second save of June
McArthur earned a save against the Marlins on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

Advice: McArthur entered in the ninth frame with Kansas City up by three runs and made quick work of Miami, retiring the side in order on 10 pitches. That netted him his first save since June 6 and his 13th overall this season. McArthur's 18-day span between saves was of no fault of his own -- he didn't see any save opportunities during that stretch, and the only save by any KC pitcher during that period came in a game during which McArthur was used in a high-leverage spot and ended up with the victory. With that in mind, McArthur remains the top option for save chances in the Royals' bullpen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:36 pm
    • McArthur picks up 13th save against Marlins
James McArthur tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: The save was McArthur’s 13th of the season. He’s been a little shaky this season with a 4.70 ERA, but the Royals don’t necessarily have a better option to turn to for saves. It was just McArthur’s second save in the month of June, but it looks like the Royals will continue to lean on him when the opportunity arises. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm
    • Continuing recovery in Arizona
Bradford (rib/back) will throw a bullpen session Friday and then be sent to the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Bradford has been sidelined since April with a lower-back strain and a stress fracture in his rib. However, he's been making steady progress and will continue his recovery in Arizona. While it's unclear when Bradford will start facing hitters, a return to the big-league staff shortly after the All-Star break seems feasible. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:16 pm

    • Blows save chance Thursday
Estrada (3-1) blew a save but was credited with the win in Thursday's victory versus the Brewers. He allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three batters over one inning.

Advice: Primary closer Robert Suarez had pitched on back-to-back days, so San Diego turned to Estrada with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, though the latter had taken the mound on consecutive days as well. Estrada couldn't close things out, giving up a pair of runs on a walk, a single, a wild pitch and a double. To his credit, the right-hander kept the game tied by striking out the final two batters he faced, and he ended up in the win column when Jake Cronenworth smacked a walk-off home run in the bottom of the frame. Though Estrada continues to rack up punchouts -- of his past 13 outs, 12 have come via strikeout -- he's been struggling of late, giving up eight runs on 10 hits and three walks over that span of five outings. • Jeremiah Estrada winds up with win after BS
Jeremiah Estrada took a blown save but ended up with a win after allowing two runs in the ninth Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: In Estrada’s defense, he really should have Christian Yelich struck out to begin the ninth, which probably would have led to a scoreless frame. Instead, he allowed on a walk to Yelich and two hits. It was quite curious that the Padres decided to use Estrada and avoid Robert Suarez tonight. Both had worked the previous two days, but Suarez threw fewer pitches in those outings, and had, unlike Estrada, gone four straight days without working previously. He is also the older of the two by eight years. If we were the Padres, we’d consider Estrada the more important reliever of the two going forward. Suarez, though, is in the second year of a five-year, $46 million contract. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:17 pm
    • Another scoreless outing
Lopez (5-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Tigers, allowing seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It's the second straight scoreless outing for Lopez, though he failed to make it through six innings for just the second time in his last six starts. The 30-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to a remarkable 1.57 with a 1.08 WHIP and 76:23 K:BB across 74.1 innings this year. Lopez is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cardinals early next week in his next start. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:54 pm

    • Reynaldo López shuts out Tigers for five in win
Reynaldo López scattered seven hits over five scoreless innings in a victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.

Advice: Both Lopez and Tarik Skubal allowed seven hits in this one, but every one López surrendered was a single and they were all spread out; he allowed one each in the first three innings and two apiece in the fourth and fifth. It meant López was in no position to go deep today, but he didn’t need to in a 7-0 game. López moved to 5-2 with a 1.57 ERA. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:31 pm

    • Serves up grand slam
Kinley allowed four earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one to record his only out Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Kinley entered the game in the ninth inning with the Rockies up by five runs. He allowed three of the first four batters he faced to reach base before serving up a grand slam to Jason Heyward. He was pulled immediately thereafter, sparing him a loss or blown save, but it was still a disastrous outing that ultimately led to a Rockies loss. Kinley has taken over as Colorado's primary closer, though he's now given up six earned runs across his last three appearances spanning 2.1 frames. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:40 am

    • Tyler Kinley tagged for four runs by Dodgers
Brought in with a 9-4 lead in the ninth, Tyler Kinley gave up four runs while getting just one out Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Well, it’s not a blown save. Since it was a five-run game, it wouldn’t have been a blown save even if Kinley has remained in to give up the tying run. Kinley had reemerged as the favorite for saves in the Rockies’ pen, earning three of them this month, but he’s been thoroughly unimpressive overall. The door is definitely wide open for Justin Lawrence at this point. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:20 pm
