    • Ronal Blanco takes first loss of 2024
Ronel Blanco took his first loss Friday after giving up four runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins.

Advice: Blanco walked three and gave up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach. Apart from the time he was ejected for his sticky stuff, this is the first time this year that Blanco has failed to complete five innings. He’s still playable in mixed leagues for now, particularly since he’s about to face the Royals and White Sox in two starts next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:40 pm

    • Allows four runs in no-decision
Soriano allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Soriano left the game in line for the loss, but Jo Adell's grand slam off the bench spared the right-hander from a second straight defeat. Soriano has allowed four runs in five of his outings this year, including three of his last five starts. He's at a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 52:25 K:BB over 58.1 innings across 12 appearances (10 starts) on the season. The 25-year-old is projected to make his next start at home versus the Padres. • José Soriano shaky in no-decision vs. Mariners
José Soriano gave up four runs in his six innings of work in a no-decision Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Soriano allowed seven hits with a couple of walks while striking out three. this could have been a much worse outing based on how things went early on, as he allowed three runs in the first before settling down. The 25-year-old has now given up four runs in back-to-back starts, but in both of those outings there have been quality moments for Soriano. He’ll try and show more consistency in his scheduled start against San Diego next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:03 pm

    • Suffers first loss
Blanco (5-1) took the loss Friday against Minnesota, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Blanco faced 20 batters, marking a season low, not including his May 14 start against Oakland when he was ejected after three innings for a foreign substance. The Houston right-hander also yielded a season-high four runs, pushing his ERA up to 2.44 overall in 59 innings. Blanco is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Cardinals at home next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:31 pm

    • Remains undefeated
Williams (5-0) picked up the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while striking out four.

Advice: The right-hander was able to keep Atlanta's lineup at bay for most of the contest, allowing just one run in the bottom of the third inning after surrendering a leadoff triple to Jarred Kelenic. Williams induced 12 whiffs on the night and retired nine straight batters over his final frames before an Ozzie Albies single sent him to the showers after 95 pitches. Williams has not allowed more than one earned run in eight of his 11 starts this season while also going at least five innings in all but one start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:13 am
    • Trevor Williams holds ATL in check over 5 2/3
Trevor Williams went 5 2/3 innings while allowing just one run on four hits t pick up a victory Thursday against Atlanta.

Advice: Williams walked two and struck out four before leaving. The 32-year-old has been fantastic in 2024 with an ERA of 2.22 over the first third of the season as evidence. The metrics suggest that much of this is good luck, but the results are tough to argue with. He’ll have a chance to prove the doubters wrong again next Tuesday against the Mets, assuming no changes to the rotation order. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:00 pm
    • Shut down for at least one month
Schmidt (lat) will be shut down for 4-to-6 weeks, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Schmidt landed on the injured list Thursday, and he'll be in line for a lengthy absence. He'll be sidelined until the All-Star break, leaving the Yankees shorthanded in the rotation until Gerrit Cole (elbow) can return. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:48 pm

    • Placed on injured list
The Yankees placed Schmidt on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right lat strain.

Advice: Schmidt gave up two runs (one earned) in five innings during Sunday's loss to the Padres, and he appears to have injured his lat in the process. His move to the IL is backdated to Monday, so the 28-year-old right-hander will be able to return beginning June 11. In the meantime, Cody Morris will come up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the opening on New York's roster. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:15 pm

    • Clarke Schmidt lands on IL with right lat strain
Yankees placed RHP Clarke Schmidt on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 27, with a right lat strain.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Schmidt will be shut down from throwing for the next 4-6 weeks, which likely knocks him out until sometime after the All-Star break. Schmidt was slated to take the ball on Saturday against the Giants, so New York will have to dip into their organizational depth to fill the void. The 28-year-old righty will press pause on an impressive breakthrough campaign as he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his 11 starts this season, recording a stellar 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67/20 K/BB ratio across 60 2/3 innings of work. It’s a significant loss for the Yankees, and fantasy managers as well. There should be a clearer timetable for his return once he’s cleared to resume throwing in a few weeks.
