      Steer went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Steer got the Reds' offense started with a three-run blast in the first inning. He snapped a 17-game homerless drought, during which he'd posted an unsightly .527 OPS.     • Teoscar Hernádez homers in loss
      Teoscar Hernádez went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, double, two walks, and two runs scored in a loss to the Reds on Friday.

      Advice: Hernádez’s ninth inning home run cut the Reds’ lead to three, but to no avail for the Dodgers. The homer was his 12th of the season, just one behind Shohei Ohtani for the team-lead and his two walks raised his walk rate near 9%. That would be the most Hernádez has walked since 2019. He’s chasing far less than he has in years past, too. That and him hitting in the middle of the Dodgers’ potent lineup has made him one of the best run producers in the league so far this season.       Steer (ankle) will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

      Advice: Steer didn't start in either of the last two games while managing a sore ankle, though he felt well enough to make a pinch-hitting appearance in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers. Monday's team off day plus an absence from the lineup in Tuesday's 2-0 win over San Diego appears to have provided sufficient time for Steer to move past the ankle issue. He'll likely continue to see the bulk of his starts at first base rather than in the corner outfield for the duration of Christian Encarnacion-Strand's (wrist) stint on the injured list.
