    • Mason Miller shuts door on Rays for 11th save
Mason Miller earned a save by preserving a 3-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Miller, who hadn’t pitched in two days, didn’t make it easy on himself. After getting the first two batters out, he allowed a single to Yandy Diaz and walked Brandon Lowe to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out Isaac Paredes to end the game. It was his 11th save of the year to go along with a 1.88 ERA. He has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and with the A’s proving to be more competitive than many expected, Miller should easily eclipse the 20-save mark this year if he can stay healthy. • Suffers second defeat
Yamamoto (5-2) suffered the loss Sunday against the Reds, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Yamamoto was done in by a lack of run support combined with a tough-luck four-run third inning. Yamamoto recorded two outs in the third but an infield single by Jake Fraley extended the inning while loading the bases and was followed by consecutive two-run singles by Jonathan India and Nick Martini. The outing marked Yamamoto's first defeat since the first game of the season and came on the heels of an impressive five-game stretch where Yamamoto went 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 32 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place next weekend when the Dodgers welcome the division-rival Rockies to Chavez Ravine. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:30 pm

    • Takes loss in Cincinnati
Buehler (1-2) took the loss to the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Buehler didn't have his best stuff in this one, as evidenced by the fact that he induced only six swings and misses on 91 pitches and also served up a pair of solo homers. It was a step backward from his previous outing, but this was just his third start back from Tommy John surgery, and ups and downs are to be expected after the long layoff. The 29-year-old righty will take a 4.26 ERA and 1.21 WHIP into his next start, which lines up for next weekend at home against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:27 am
    • Walker Buehler gives up three runs in loss to Reds
Walker Buehler suffered his second defeat of the season on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: Buehler punched out four batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. His trouble in this one stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard, as Spencer Steer slugged a solo homer in the first inning and Will Benson blasted another in the second. The 29-year-old hurler got six swings and misses on 91 pitches on the evening — three of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to bounce back and improve upon his 4.26 ERA and 1.21 WHIP when he does battle against the Rockies at home on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:56 pm
    • Annihilates Houston, nabs save
Miller notched his 10th save of the season Saturday, striking out the side in a 4-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: Miller was coming off his worst appearance of the season his last time out against the Rockies, but he had no such trouble in this one. The flamethrower needed 15 pitches to dispose of the Astros in order, topping out at 102.2 mph with his fastball. Miller has struck out multiple batters in 14 of 18 outings this season. • Records 11th save
Bednar allowed two hits but hung on for a scoreless inning and a save in Saturday's 4-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Tasked with protecting a three-run lead, Bednar retired the first two batters of the ninth inning before back-to-back hits put the tying run in Ronald Acuna at the plate. The closer then got Acuna to ground into a fielder's choice to thwart the threat. After blowing three save chances in seven tries to start the season, Bednar has successfully converted each of his last seven opportunities. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:12 pm
    • David Bednar works around jam to get save vs. ATL
David Bednar worked around two hits to get a save with a scoreless inning against Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: Bednar put the tying run at the plate in the form of Ronald Acuña Jr., but he was able to get Acuña Jr. to hit into a fielder’s choice. The 29-year-old has had his share of struggles in 2024, but he was able to lower his ERA to 6.75 while picking up his 11th save. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:42 pm
    • Mason Miller strikes out side in save vs. Astros
Mason Miller struck out the side to pick up the save and help the Athletics to a 3-1 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: How can you not be impressed with what Miller has done? The right-hander threw 15 pitches while fanning the side, and it’s nice to see after he blew the save Thursday against the Rockies while allowing five runs — three of those earned. Miller will have some limitations based on Oakland not being very good and Oakland being very careful with the right-hander, but simply put, he has as good of stuff as any reliever in baseball. • Steady in Wednesday's win
Cortes (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings.

Advice: Cortes looks to have turned a corner, allowing just one unearned run over his last 12 innings spanning two starts. He's collected wins in both of those outings. Cortes is at a 3.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 63:15 K:BB through 65.2 innings over 11 starts this season. The southpaw will look to keep rolling in his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:13 pm
