    • Goes deep again Friday
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Ohtani reclaimed a share of the major-league lead in homers with his 13th long ball of the year, which came off Frankie Montas in the third inning. Over his last 12 games, Ohtani's slugged six homers with 12 RBI and seven multi-hit efforts. He's slashing an electrifying .358/.426/.676 with 32 RBI, 36 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, 16 doubles and a triple through 204 plate appearances while occupying the No. 2 spot in the Dodgers' stacked lineup. • Posts three hits Friday
Arenado went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's 10-6 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Arenado had gone 5-for-38 with no multi-hit efforts and a 1:10 BB:K over his previous nine contests. The third baseman hasn't stumbled as much as some of his teammates, but he's still in the midst of a down year, especially from a power standpoint. He's slashing .268/.323/.375 with three home runs, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored and nine doubles over 43 games on the year. Arenado hasn't hit fewer than 20 homers in a full-length campaign since 2014, and he's never slugged lower than .405 over a full year in his career, but he's got a lot of work to do to get back to those levels in 2024. • Shohei Ohtani swats 13th homer of season in win
Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run homer to help the Dodgers prevail 7-3 over the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Ohtani scored twice in the contest. It’s the 13th homer for the 29-year-old, and it came in the third inning with Mookie Betts on base. His first season with the Dodgers have been nothing short of spectacular, as he’s now slashing .358/.426/.676 with 32 RBI to go with those roundtrippers. It’s borderline impossible to offer hyperbole when discussing how good Ohtani is at baseball. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:40 pm

    • Nestor Cortes strikes out six White Sox in win
Nestor Cortes worked seven innings without allowing an earned run in the Yankees 4-2 win over the White Sox on Friday. He struck out six, walked one, allowed five hits, and earned the win.

Advice: This was the fourth time this season that Cortes has completed at least seven innings. He’s been a reliable, steadying force in the Yankees’ rotation and looks to have bounced back fully after a poor 2023. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:11 pm

    • Placed on IL with oblique strain
The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain.

Advice: Muncy last played Wednesday against the Giants and was left out of the starting lineup Thursday against the Reds. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Muncy sustained a Grade 1 right oblique strain during batting practice before Thursday's game, and the veteran outfielder will not swing a bat for two-to-three days, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Before landing on the IL, Muncy was slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine home runs and 28 RBI over 167 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:03 pm

    • Dodgers place Max Muncy (oblique) on 10-day IL
Dodgers placed INF Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Advice: Well that certainly came out of nowhere. The 33-year-old slugger has been a very capable run-producer in the middle of the Dodgers’ lineup this season — slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine homers and 28 RBI through his first 40 games He’s going to miss at least a couple of weeks — and it could wind up being longer depending on the severity of the strain. Miguel Vargas was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:01 pm

    • Undergoing season-ending surgery
Lee is set to undergo season-ending surgery in the next few weeks for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Lee sustained the injury in the top of the first inning of Sunday's game against the Reds, when he crashed into the outfield wall while attempting to make a catch. He was placed on the 10-day IL with what was initially diagnosed as a dislocated left shoulder, but an MRI on Tuesday revealed further structural damage. Lee received multiple opinions on the injury, and season-ending surgery has ultimately been decided on for the 25-year-old outfielder. Lee signed a six-year, $113 million with the Giants in December of 2023 after seven seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization, and he will end his first season in the majors slashing .262/.310/.331 with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI over 158 plate appearances. Luis Matos has started in center field in each game since Lee's injury, and the former will reprise that role again Friday against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:46 pm

    • Jung Hoo Lee to undergo season-ending surgery
Jung Hoo Lee will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Advice: It had been anticipated that Lee would be sidelined for most — if not all — of the season after crashing into the center-field wall at Oracle Park over the weekend, and now it’s official. The 25-year-old finishes his first season stateside hitting .262/.310/.331 with a pair of homers, 15 runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 37 games. He should be ready to go for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:35 pm

    • Justin Turner returns to Jays’ lineup on Friday
Justin Turner returned to the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Rays.

Advice: After missing the previous three games due to illness, Turner will jump right back in as the Jays’ designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Tyler Alexander and the Rays on Friday evening. On the season, the 39-year-old is hitting .246/.317/.405 with four homers and 16 RBI in 37 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:56 pm
