    • Cracks sixth homer
Melendez went 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and four RBI in Friday's win against the Mariners.

Advice: Melendez blasted a 406-foot, three-run homer off Bryce Miller in the fourth inning before adding another RBI via a groundout in the sixth. This marks the 25-year-old's second four-RBI game of the season, with the first coming April 19. Hopefully Melendez can build upon this performance, as he entered the contest hitting a ghastly .111 (5-for-45) with 13 strikeouts over his last 15 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm

    • MJ Melendez homers, drives in four in comeback win
MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer and drove home four runs in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Melendez got the Royals back into the game with a three-run blast off Bryce Miller to turn an 8-1 deficit into an 8-4 game. He drove in another run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice. Melendez has been a major disappointment with a slash of .167/.233/.339, but the 25-year-old is far from bereft of offensive talent. Expect better things over the final 90-plus contests. • Taking seat Tuesday
Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Melendez will get the day off Tuesday after making five consecutive starts in left for the Royals. Instead, Adam Frazier will fill left field and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:36 am

    • MJ Melendez goes 0-for-4 in loss to Padres
MJ Melendez finished 0-for-4 while his teammates were combining to score eight runs Friday against the Padres.

Advice: Melendez will likely turn this around if the Royals stick with him long enough, but at this point, sending him down for 2-3 weeks would make sense. He’s sitting at .172/.233/.337 for the season. Drew Waters wouldn’t necessarily be a better bet, but at least he’d improve the defense in left if given a shot. Rotoworld Friday, 9:00 pm

    • Lifts homer in loss
Melendez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Melendez's fourth-inning blast gave the Royals a 4-0 lead before things turned south for them in the middle innings. May has been a rough month for Melendez, who has gone 12-for-69 (.174) with six extra-base hits over 23 contests in the month. His previous homer was April 19, and he now has five long balls on the year to go with 13 RBI, 14 runs scored, two stolen bases and a poor .176/.238/.346 slash line through 50 games. Melendez is in a strong-side platoon role, though Garrett Hampson has started to get more looks versus righties amid Melendez's lengthy slump. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:48 pm
