• J.D. Davis exits Tuesday after being hit by pitch
J.D. Davis left Tuesday’s game against the Rays after being hit by a pitch.

Advice: Davis was hit on the left hand by a pitch and remained in the contest initially before being lifted for a defensive replacement in the ensuing frame. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:45 pm

  • Alec Bohm getting night off Tuesday vs. Giants
Alec Bohm is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Giants.

Advice: Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters late Monday that Bohm is dealing with a few lingering physical issues, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he’s getting a rare night off to rest and recover. The 27-year-old infielder is off to the best season of his career so far with a robust .862 OPS with five homers and a National League-leading 47 RBI through 54 contests. • Jose Miranda slugs moonshot homer to sink Royals
Jose Miranda clobbered a two-run homer on Monday in the Twins’ victory over the Royals.

Advice: Miranda kicked off the scoring in the third inning of Monday afternoon’s matinee affair at Target Field with a colossal 437-foot drive to left-center field off Royals starter Alec Marsh. It wound up being his lone hit in three at-bats before being lifted from the contest of a defensive replacement. The 25-year-old slugger has started to heat up lately, going deep three times in his last eight contests since May 19. Rotoworld Monday, 1:41 pm
  • Michael Busch sits for second straight game
Michael Busch is not in the Cubs’ lineup on Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: With the Brewers throwing a left-handed pitcher, Busch will find himself on the bench; however, he was also on the bench on Sunday. The rookie is hitting 12-for-64 (.188) in May with one home run and a 39.2 percent strikeout rate. If he doesn’t start picking it up soon, it’s fair to wonder how much longer the Cubs will keep him in the starting lineup. Patrick Wisdom will get the start on Monday and has now started three games in a row. He’d likely benefit the most from a decision to dial back on Busch’s playing time. • Working way out of slump
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a walk Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: Bregman has slumped for significant periods of the season and Sunday's performance was his first multi-hit game in his last eight starts. He's been unlucky to the tune of a .217 BABIP across 216 plate appearances on the campaign, though Bregman's struggles to make consistent quality contact make him susceptible to these results. • Not starting Sunday
Busch is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Even with right-hander Sonny Gray taking the mound for the Cardinals on Sunday, the lefty-hitting Busch will begin the series finale in the dugout. Patrick Wisdom will start at first base in Busch's stead and will bat eighth. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:49 pm

  • Playing time picking up
Miranda will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Willi Castro looked as though he would settle in as the Twins' primary third baseman after Byron Buxton returned from the injured list around the middle of May, but Minnesota has instead kept Castro in the regular lineup by moving him all over the outfield. As a result, Miranda has gained traction at the hot corner of late; Sunday will mark his ninth consecutive start at the position. Miranda has earned the playing time by producing a .986 OPS over his last eight starts, but he could nonetheless see his opportunities decrease by the end of next week, when Royce Lewis (quadricep) could be back from the IL. • Goes deep again
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Angels.

Advice: Ramirez is 12-for-33 (.364) with six homers and 14 RBI over his last eight games. He's also leading the majors with 51 RBI thanks to his recent surge. The third baseman hasn't reached the 30-homer mark in either of the last two seasons, but he's halfway there now with 15 through 51 contests, to go with a hearty .267/.314/.539 slash line, 35 runs scored, seven stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple. • Three hits including homer
Westburg went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: The O's did all their scoring in the eighth inning, and Westburg slugged the last of three Baltimore homers in the frame when he took Michael Kopech deep. It was the 25-year-old infielder's first multi-hit performance since May 15, snapping a 4-for-29 (.138) swoon. Despite the mini-slump, Westburg sports a .285/.342/.508 slash line on the season with eight homers, five steals, 26 runs and 31 RBI in 48 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:41 am
