• Pallante allows six earned runs in loss to Astros
Andre Pallante allowed six earned runs over three innings while striking out one in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros.

Advice: Things didn’t go well for Pallante, who needed 75 pitches to get through his three innings of work. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Pallante would allow four runs in the third, with the most notable coming on a three-run homer by Yainer Diaz. It was the worst outing of the season for Pallante, who has now started back-to-back games for the Cards after serving as a reliever for the first two months of the season. If Pallante gets the nod for his next start, it would likely come on Sunday against the Rockies. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:38 pm
  • Pete Fairbanks earns save in win over Marlins
Pete Fairbanks put out a bases-loaded jam to secure a save in a 9-5 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: Phil Maton started the ninth inning with the Rays up by four runs, but he allowed three straight hits, so the Rays called on Fairbanks to bail them out. The right-hander got two strikeouts and then a groundout to end the game and earn his seventh save of the season. The 30-year-old has battled some injuries and nerve issues in his throwing hand, but he has a 3.50 ERA on the season and remains a solid closer when healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm
  • Cristopher Sánchez spins six frames in no-decision
Cristopher Sánchez allowed one run over six innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Advice: Sánchez gave up only four hits with a third-inning ground out from Andruw Monasterio representing the lone tally against him in this one. He struck out three and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old lefty has been a model of consistency this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 12 starts so far. He’ll bring a strong 2.71 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 59/21 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings (12 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm
  • Jesús Luzardo hit hard in loss to Rays on Tuesday
Jesús Luzardo allowed nine runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Luzardo was scoreless for the first three innings and then the wheels fell off, allowing nine earned runs while only getting four more outs. On the day, he allowed only three extra-base hits but 11 hard-hit baseballs, and the average exit velocity against him was 94 mph. It’s been a tough year for the 26-year-old, who has a 5.30 ERA but remains perhaps the top starting pitcher on the trade market. That market just may not be as enthusiastic as it was over the winter. He has a tough start against the Guardians this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:59 pm
  • Gerrit Cole strikes out five on Tuesday at AA
Gerrit Cole (elbow) struck out five over 3 1/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Somerset.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Cole will require “at least a few” rehab outings before making his season debut, but he looked extremely sharp in this one. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner was reportedly sitting in the mid-to-upper 90’s with his fastball and threw 45 pitches (34 strikes). He’ll presumably make another rehab start this weekend and could return to New York’s starting rotation at some point in late June or early July. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:29 pm

  • Padres promote Adam Mazur for debut vs. Halos
Padres selected the contract of RHP Adam Mazur from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Mazur draws the starting assignment on Tuesday night for his big-league debut against the Angels in Los Angeles following an impressive 10-start run this season between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso where he posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 50/9 K/BB ratio across 51 1/3 innings of work. The 23-year-old righty doesn’t miss a ton of bats, but he’s displayed exemplary control throughout his minor-league tenure since being selected in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He’s a borderline top-15 pitching prospect, who has yet to debut, in dynasty leagues at the moment. He’s at least worthy of a speculative roster spot in extremely deep mixed leagues. • Promoted ahead of start
The Padres selected Mazur's contract from Triple-A El Paso prior to his start Tuesday versus the Angels.

Advice: With Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Yu Darvish (groin) both on the IL, the Padres will call upon the 23-year-old Mazur to help fill the gaps in their rotation. He began the season in Double-A and was promoted to Triple-A in May after posting a 1.95 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He hasn't found nearly the same amount of success through four starts with El Paso (7.11 ERA, 1.32 WHIP), so fantasy managers should temper their expectations as the right-hander makes his MLB debut Tuesday. Logan Gillaspie was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:24 pm
  • Needs multiple rehab starts
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Cole (elbow) will require "at least a few" minor-league rehab starts before returning from the 60-day injured list, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cole will make his first rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Somerset and is slated to throw 40-to-50 pitches in that outing. Assuming he adds around 10-to-15 pitches to each of his subsequent rehab starts, the righty would presumably require two additional outings at a minimum after Tuesday's appearance before slotting back into the Yankees rotation. With that in mind, Cole doesn't appear on track to make his 2024 Yankees debut until at least late June, provided he checks out fine physically during his rehab assignment. Cole is working his way back from nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:33 pm

  • Set to start Tuesday
Walston is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Giants at Chase Field.

Advice: After he was called up from Triple-A Reno on May 26, Walston made his first big-league start later that day against the Marlins, striking out four over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision. Arizona had previously confirmed Walston for a start against the Mets this past weekend, but he was ultimately pushed back in the pitching schedule after the Diamondbacks elected to call up Slade Cecconi from Reno to slot into the rotation following Zac Gallen's (hamstring) placement on the 15-day injured list. Until one of Gallen, Merrill Kelly (shoulder) or Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) returns from the IL, the Diamondbacks should have back-end rotation spots available for both Walston and Cecconi.
