    • Paul Goldschmidt homers in victory over Nationals
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Monday in the Cardinals’ win over the Nationals.

Advice: Goldschmidt extended the Cardinals’ early lead with a solo shot -- his 12th big fly of the season -- off Nationals starter Mitchell Parker in the fourth inning. He also reached on a fielding error and came around to score on a Brendan Donovan double in the eighth inning as well. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman has gone deep only five times over his last 30 games and simply hasn’t produced enough so far this season to remain rostered in shallow mixed leagues. • Brandon Nimmo hits 14th homer in loss
Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-4 and hit his 14th homer to drive in both Mets runs Monday in a loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Francisco Lindor is having the best season of anyone snubbed from the All-Star roster, but that was at least somewhat understandable, given the strength at shortstop in the NL. Nimmo actually seems like the worst snub of all, given how good he’s been and how weak the NL outfield is as a whole. Plus, he’s been a borderline All-Star for several years now and has still never gotten to go to the game. Perhaps that will change as players start to drop out. Rotoworld Monday, 1:19 pm
    • Goes yard in loss
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: The New York outfielder accounted for the only Mets runs of the game, hitting a 428-foot, two-run homer off Mitch Keller in the sixth inning. The nine-year veteran has tapped into his power recently, as he entered slugging .671 with 12 extra base hits -- six homers and doubles apiece -- in 90 plate appearances over his previous 20 games. After missing a game July 1 due to a forehead laceration, Nimmo has batted .320 (8-for-25) with three extra-base hits, five RBI and three runs scored in seven games this month. • Lifts homer in win
Melendez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 10-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Melendez ended a 17-game homer drought with his seventh-inning blast Sunday. The outfielder hit .271 with five doubles but just one RBI during his power drought. Despite the recent improvements at the plate, Melendez is still slashing a poor .190/.256/.367 with nine homers, 25 RBI, 22 runs scored and two stolen bases over 80 contests this season. • Lars Nootbaar comes off the IL on Monday
Cardinals activated OF Lars Nootbaar (oblique) from the 10-day IL.

Advice: Nootbaar played 13 games on his rehab assignment, including five at Triple-A, where he went just 3-for-17. Injuries have hampered the potential breakout for Nootbaar this season, but he should return to an everyday role in center field with Michael Siani shifting back to the bench. Jose Fermin was sent to the minors in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 9:16 am
    • Returns from 10-day injured list
The Cardinals activated Nootbaar (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Nootbaar missed nearly six weeks of action with a strained oblique and is ready to return after going 6-for-23 with two home runs during a seven-game rehab assignment at Double-A Springfield. He should resume everyday duties in right field, resulting in Alec Burleson settling back in as St. Louis' designated hitter. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:13 am
    • Getting fourth straight start
Iglesias will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Pirates, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: The Mets will include Iglesias in the lineup for a fourth straight game and for the third time against a right-handed starting pitcher (Mitch Keller). Though the right-handed-hitting Iglesias initially looked set to serve as a short-side platoon mate at the keystone for Jeff McNeil, the Mets may be compelled to make regular room for both players in the lineup against right-handed pitching. McNeil will pick up a start in right field Monday and could end up seeing more frequent opportunities at that position so long as Starling Marte (knee) remains on the injured list. Since getting called up from Triple-A Syracuse on May 31, Iglesias has slashed .333/.373/.476 with one home run and one stolen base across 67 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:57 am

    • Launches game-tying homer
Springer went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run during Sunday's 5-4 win over Seattle in 10 innings.

Advice: Springer came through for the Blue Jays, knotting the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning with a three-run home run off Ryne Stanek. The outfielder has led off in each of his last four starts, batting 5-for-14 with five runs scored, four walks and three strikeouts. On the year, Springer owns a .670 OPS, which would be a career worst if it stands. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:52 am
    • Drives in two in win
Arenado went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Arenado continued his hot stretch at the plate with his third consecutive game of two or more hits. It's the second time this season he's put together a streak of three straight multi-hit efforts, each of which has come over his last 22 appearances. He also picked up an RBI in consecutive games after a stretch during which he had only two RBI in his last 14 games. The veteran's slash line sits at a solid .270/.322/.379 but a lack of homers -- seven so far -- has stunted his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:49 pm
