    • Christian Walker exits game with oblique tightness
Christian Walker left Monday’s game with left oblique tightness, according to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Everything is tightness these days, so that the Diamondbacks are calling it that isn’t necessarily good news. If Walker lands on the IL, Pavin Smith will likely be called up to play first base. He’s been effective in limited action in the majors this season, and he could be a factor in deeper mixed leagues if he starts against righties. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:58 pm

    • Christian Walker exits game after three innings
Christian Walker was lifted from Monday’s game after three innings.

Advice: There was no obvious injury, but it would still seem to be a more likely possibility than a trade. Walker in his walk year, but there’s nothing to suggest the Diamondbacks, who are in prime Wild Card position, are looking to sell. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:49 pm

    • Exits early versus Nationals
Walker was removed from Monday's contest against the Nationals ahead of the fourth inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Walker struck out swinging in his only at-bat in the bottom of the second inning before he was replaced at first base by Kevin Newman. It's unclear why Walker was taken out of the game, but more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 pm

    • Out of lineup vs. lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Pederson will retreat to the bench while the Nationals send southpaw Mitchell Parker to the hill. Randal Grichuk will serve as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter while Pederson takes a seat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:59 pm
    • Report: Yankees talking to Tigers about Flaherty
The Yankees are in “extensive trade talks” for Jack Flaherty, according to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale.

Advice: A Flaherty acquisition would likely be followed by a Nestor Cortes trade out of New York. Flaherty is probably the top rental starter available, depending on how one views Blake Snell. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Erick Fedde goes from White Sox to Cardinals
Cardinals acquired RHP Erick Fedde, OF Tommy Pham and cash considerations from the White Sox in a three-team deal.

Advice: Fedde gets a little bit of a value boost in going from one of baseball’s worst teams to a solid contender in St. Louis. He’ll probably step into Andre Pallante’s place in the rotation, though Pallante is throwing better than most of the Cardinals’ veterans right now. Perhaps an IL stint for Lance Lynn would be of benefit to all. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:40 pm

    • Erick Fedde heads to Cardinals in big trade
Cardinals acquired RHP Erick Fedde from the White Sox as part of a three-team deal, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Advice: The deal has many layers and came together over a few hours on Monday afternoon, but the full scope of the trade is that the Cardinals receive Fedde and OF Tommy Pham, the Dodgers will receive INF/OF Tommy Edman and RHP Michael Kopech, and the White Sox will get INF/OF Miguel Vargas, 2B prospect Jeral Perez, and INF prospect Alexander Albertus. There are a lot of moving pieces here but Fedde figures to slot into the Cardinals’ starting rotation, likely moving Andre Pallante to the bullpen. While the strikeout totals haven’t been great for Fedde, he has been a tremendous source of ratios and now has a clear upgrade in team context, which is great for his fantasy value. • Currently slated to start Thursday
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Monday that Flaherty is scheduled to start Thursday against the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Flaherty almost surely isn't going to wind up taking the ball for the Tigers that day, however, as he's fully expected to be moved elsewhere prior to Tuesday's trade deadline. The righty had been scheduled to start Monday versus the Guardians, but the Tigers ultimately scratched him so as not to expose him to a potential injury ahead of the trade deadline. • Flaherty scratched from start, trade expected soon
Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman of the New York Post report that Jack Flaherty was scratched from his scheduled start against the Guardians on Monday in advance of a potential trade.

Advice: If the Tigers are pulling Flaherty from his start to protect him, that must mean that a deal is close. The Padres, Dodgers, Yankees and Astros are among the teams that are known to have expressed interest in the 28-year-old right-hander. Flaherty has had quite the resurgence with the Tigers this season, registering a 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 133/19 K/BB ratio over 106 2/3 innings in his 18 starts. Given his performance — and the number of teams believed to be involved — the Tigers should be able to do pretty well for themselves here. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:49 am
