    • Another strong outing
Skenes didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Giants, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: While Thursday's outing wasn't as dominant as Skene's 11-strikeout performance in his last start, the rookie right-hander was still effective, coaxing a pair of key double-play balls to limit the Giants to just one run. However, the Pirates bullpen would implode late, leaving Skenes with a no-decision in an eventual 7-6 loss. Skenes now sports a 2.25 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and an impressive 21:4 K:BB through his first three starts (16 innings). He's currently in line for a road matchup with the Tigers in his next outing. • Nick Martini homers in extra-inning loss to Padres
Nick Martini went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a loss in extra-innings to the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: Martini stirred things up (sorry) with his two-run shot, as it tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning. The 33-year-old has gone deep deep four times, but his line of .184/.204/.356 tells the story of how little fantasy value he offers. Pretty good pun at the start of this, however. • Luis Arraez collects four hits in win over Reds
Luis Arraez went 4-for-5 with an RBI and run scored in an extra-inning win over the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: That’s the second four-hit game in a row for Arraez, as he also collected four in the 7-3 win Wednesday. It’s also the eighth consecutive multi-hit game, and that’s seen the 27-year-old increase his average to .341. Helping in other categories is sometimes tricky, but the average category? Nope. That’s one Arraez is always going to be dominant in. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Ha-Seong Kim steals two bags against Reds
Ha-Seong Kim stole two bases while going 1-for-3 with a walk against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Kim was also thrown out stealing for the second time this season, but the pair of thefts do bring his season total to 13. That’s a solid number, obviously, but his .216/.335/.369 slash has left a lot to be desired. Despite those poor numbers he does have six homers and 22 RBI, so we’ll call Kim’s 2024 campaign a mixed bag. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • Robert Suarez nails down 14th save against Reds
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless 10th to pick up a save against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: That’s already the 14th save of the season for Suarez; putting him at right around a 40-save pace at this stage of the season. The right-hander hasn’t just helped in that category, as the scoreless 10th puts his ERA at a sparkling 0.40 for the 2024 campaign. There were question marks about Suarez being a stopper for the Padres coming into the season. Over the first 50-plus games, that question has been answered rather emphatically. • Matt Waldron gives up two, gets no-decision
Matt Waldron didn’t factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds after allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts.

Advice: Waldron gave up both of his runs in his first two innings before settling down quite nicely. The 27-year-old gave up six hits and two walks in another solid effort for the knuckleballer after scuffling in the early portion of the season. He’s absolutely worth streaming consideration; particularly in a start Tuesday against the Marlins. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Frankie Montas surrenders four runs vs. Padres
Frankie Montas was charged for four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals. • Jose Trevino leaves game Thursday with illness
Jose Trevino was removed from Thursday’s game against the Mariners due to illness.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterwards that Trevino wasn’t feeling well, which led to him being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Thursday afternoon’s showdown. He’s presumably day-to-day for now. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Adolis Garcia hits solo homer in loss to Phillies
Adolis Garcia hit a solo homer in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep a dozen times thus far in 2024 while driving in 36 runs over Texas’s first 51 games. He also drew a walk, and he’s now slashing .253/.300/.500. Garcia is a flawed player, but the power-production is going to make him relevant for a long time. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago
