    • Luis Arraez (shoulder) doesn’t play against Angels
Luis Arraez, day-to-day with a shoulder injury, was quite obviously not available as a pinch-hitter Monday in a 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated before the game that Arraez might be available off the bench tonight but then held him out while using David Peralta and Tyler Wade as pinch-hitters in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. It could be a sign that the Padres are downplaying their concern with Arraez’s shoulder after he was injured Sunday. We’ll check back in on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Bregman blasts ninth home run in win Monday
Alex Bergman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Bregman’s ninth of the season. With the Astros trailing by one in the eighth inning, he homered off JoJo Romero to tie the game. Bregman is still hitting just .229 on the season, but his .234 BABIP is significantly lower than his career .280 BABIP. He hit .262 with a .270 BABIP last year so his average should pick up and his .176 ISO is right in line with his .178 ISO last year when he hit 25 home runs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:29 pm

    • Seven strong innings in win
Wheeler (7-3) earned the win Monday against Milwaukee, allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Wheeler nearly pitched seven shutout innings, but he surrendered a solo home run to former teammate Rhys Hoskins with two outs in the seventh inning. Wheeler turned in his fourth consecutive quality start Monday, bringing his season total to 10. Wheeler has pitched to a 2.23 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 91 strikeouts in 80.2 innings this season, all of which rank top 10 in the league. He will look to keep rolling in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday in Boston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:10 pm

    • Could hit off bench
Arraez (shoulder) might be available to pinch hit Monday against the Angels, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Arraez departed Sunday's game against the Royals after a slide into second base, and his name wasn't listed in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup. "Luis came in today, feels better," said manager Mike Shildt. "We don't feel like it's anything structural, which is another thing that's encouraging. It's just a matter of he's sore. Got some stiffness, some soreness." The Padres appear to be exercising caution with Arraez and could use him in a pinch-hit scenario Monday evening if the situation arises. • Zack Wheeler tosses seven innings to beat Brewers
Zack Wheeler yielded one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Wheeler carried a shutout bid into the seventh inning before coughing up a solo shot to former teammate Rhys Hoskins and wound up requiring a season-high 114 pitches (67 strikes) to navigate seven frames. He finished with six strikeouts and also handed out a trio of free passes. The 34-year-old right-hander has been one of the most consistent upper-echelon fantasy starters in the game for the last few years and hasn’t skipped a beat this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 11 of his 13 outings. He’ll carry a sparkling 2.23 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 91/26 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt next Tuesday against the Red Sox at historic Fenway Park. • Luis Arraez out of lineup with shoulder injury
Luis Arraez is absent from Monday’s lineup after leaving Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Advice: Arraez said Sunday that he’d be ready for this one, but either that wasn’t the case or the Padres aren’t letting him try. Consider him day-to-day for now. The Padres have Donovan Solano at first base in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:10 pm

    • Not starting Monday
Arraez is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Angels after exiting Sunday's game in the fifth inning due to an apparent neck/shoulder injury.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Arraez wasn't able to finish out Sunday's series finale following an awkward slide into second base, and the injury appears to be bothering him enough to keep him out of Monday's matchup. The Padres have yet to provide an update on Arraez's status, so he'll be considered day-to-day until more information comes to light. Donovan Solano will start at first base Monday, while Jurickson Profar will serve as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:53 pm

    • Losing work against lefties
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Though Lowe owns a 113 wRC+ against left-handers for his career, he's struggled to maintain that level of effectiveness in those matchups so far this season. Over 55 plate appearances versus lefties in 2024, Lowe is slashing .250/.327/.292 (80 wRC+). At least for the time being, manager Bruce Bochy is seemingly viewing Lowe as a platoon player. The first baseman is on the bench for the third game in a row, with the Rangers facing lefties in each of those contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:06 pm

    • Nathaniel Lowe sits against southpaw on Monday
Nathaniel Lowe is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup for Monday evening’s skirmish against the Tigers.

Advice: The 28-year-old slugger will get a breather with outstanding left-hander Tarik Skubal taking the hill for the Tigers. Ezequiel Duran will start in his place at first base and will bat eighth for the Rangers on Monday night in Arlington. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:54 pm
