    • Cruises with seven scoreless frames
Kirby (4-3) earned the win over Kansas City on Monday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out six batters over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Kirby was shaky to begin his outing, allowing a single to the second hitter he faced and then loading the bases on consecutive hit-by-pitches. He worked his way out of that threat, though, and yielded just two harmless singles the rest of the way to finish with his fourth scoreless start of the campaign. The right-hander had an 8.16 ERA through three starts this season but has lowered that to 3.58 by giving up two or fewer runs in five of his subsequent six appearances. He's registered four quality starts over that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm

    • George Kirby blanks Royals over seven in victory
George Kirby held the Royals to three hits with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings to help the Mariners to a win Monday by a 6-2 score.

Advice: After struggling for the majority of his start against the Twins, Kirby bounced back nicely. As is usually the case, he didn’t put on any runners via walk, and he pounded the strike zone with 68-of-101 pitches going for strikes. When Kirby doesn’t have his best stuff/command the results can be problematic. He usually does. Kirby will face the Orioles next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:17 pm

    • Fans seven in win
Keller (4-3) allowed eight hits over six shutout frames Monday, striking out seven and earning a win over Milwaukee.

Advice: Keller faced traffic on the bases throughout the night but was able to dance around danger and keep the Brewers scoreless. He forced 13 whiffs -- his second-best total so far this season -- and threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes. Of those 13, seven came via the fastball, which averaged 95.2 mph. Keller has seemingly turned a corner after a shaky opening month; he's allowed just one run while posting a 12:1 K:BB over 15 frames in his last two starts. Keller will carry a 3.93 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm

    • Keller picks up fourth win Monday
Mitch Keller tossed six shutout innings, recorded seven strikeouts and picked up the win in the Pirates’ 8-6 victory over the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: The win was Keller’s fourth of the season. He allowed eight hits, but walked none in the outing. Keller lowered his ERA to 3.93 on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs in Chicago this weekend.

    • Tucker has two hits Monday
Kyle Tucker went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the Astros’ win over the Athletics on Monday.

Advice: The double was Tucker’s eighth of the season. He has carried the Astros so far this year. Tucker’s average is up to .277 and his OPS is up to .994. He has another three games to beat up on the Athletics this week.

    • Lands on IL with fractured thumb
The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb.

Advice: Friedl left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants after being hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning. The injury was initially reported as a contusion, but further tests revealed fractures in his left thumb. Friedl started the season on the IL with a fractured right wrist, and he appeared in just six major-league games after being activated May 7. In Friedl's absence, Will Benson could return to the leadoff spot against righties. The Reds recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. • Reds place Friedl on I.L. with thumb fracture
Reds placed OF TJ Friedl on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb.

Advice: The report yesterday was that X-rays were negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was hit by a pitch, but it seems that wasn’t the case. Friedl was injured in his sixth game since returning from a sprained wrist. The Reds figure to go back to Will Benson in center, but they might want to give the newly recalled Jacob Hurtubise a shot. • Snaps slump with key homer
Torres went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 10-6 win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Torres came into the contest batting .156 through 10 games in May and failed to reach base in his first three plate appearances Sunday. However, he came up big in the eighth inning, smashing a three-run shot to increase the Yankees' lead to 9-5. The long ball was just his second of the season, which is a pretty significant drop-off after he went deep 25 times in 158 contests last year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:36 am

    • On base three times in win
Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a triple, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: Both extra-base hits came off Zack Wheeler, as the Marlins tagged the Phillies' ace for six runs -- the right-hander's worst start of the season. Chisholm has caught fire over the last week, producing four multi-hit performances in the last seven games and batting .370 (10-for-27) over that stretch with three doubles, a triple, a homer, three steals, three RBI and five runs.
