    • Tim Anderson sits Wednesday against Royals
Tim Anderson is on the bench for the second time in four days Wednesday against the Royals.

Advice: The Marlins have treated Anderson as an everyday player throughout his struggles, but it looks like that might be changing now. Before being excluded from Sunday’s lineup, he had sat just three times this year, not including his IL stint and his three days of bereavement leave. Anderson actually heated up some a couple of weeks ago, but it was all singles; in 10 games from June 11-21, he hit an amazing .405/.405/.405. He’s since gone 0-for-11 to tumble back to .220/.244/.234 overall. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago
    • Resting for day game
Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: The veteran shortstop will take a seat Wednesday while the Marlins wrap up their series in Kansas City with a day game after a night game. Vidal Brujan will step in as the Marlins' starting shortstop in Anderson's stead. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
    • Getting Sunday off
Anderson isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Sunday's game versus Seattle.

Advice: After going 0-for-3 on Saturday to end his brief five-game hitting streak, Anderson will get a breather during Sunday's series finale. Vidal Brujan will fill the opening at shortstop and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:49 am
    • Walks it off Friday
Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's extra-inning win over the Mariners.

Advice: The veteran shortstop ripped a walk-off single into left field off Austin Voth in the bottom of the 10th inning, although the Marlins got a bit lucky when Cal Raleigh couldn't come up with the throw to the plate, allowing Jake Burger to score. Anderson has been red hot of late, batting .405 (17-for-42) with seven multi-hit performances in the last 10 games, but he still carries a feeble .232/.257/.246 slash line on the season. • Goes deep in loss
Tovar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Washington.

Advice: Tovar was stuck in a small 1-for-18 slump over his previous five games before Friday's strong performance. He put the Rockies on the board with a solo shot in the third inning, giving him 12 homers this year and four in his last 13 contests. Tovar is slashing .285/.312/.487 with 37 extra-base hits and 40 runs scored through 75 games this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:05 pm

    • Ezequiel Tovar homers, collects three hits in loss
Ezequiel Tovar homered while going 3-for-5 in a loss Friday to the Nationals.

Advice: The Rockies were able to pick up three homers off DJ Herz, and Tovar hit a solo shot off Herz in the third for his 12th homer of the year. The 22-year-old shortstop has put together a very strong first half of 2024 in his second full season with a .280 average, 799 OPS and 36 RBI. There’s massive upside for Tovar, especially when you remember his home park. Rotoworld Friday, 8:41 pm

    • Swipes fourth bag
Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Since missing a few games earlier this month while on the bereavement list, Anderson has caught fire and is looking more like the player who batted over .300 in four straight seasons for the White Sox. The 30-year-old shortstop has delivered multiple hits in six of the last eight games, ringing up a .412 batting average (14-for-34) over that stretch, although none of those hits went for extra bases. Despite the surge, he sports a poor .226/.252/.241 slash line on the season with four steals, eight RBI and 15 runs in 56 contests. Anderson is still looking for his first homer in a Marlins uniform. • Hitting streak ends
Tovar went 0-for-4 Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Tovar went hitless for the first time in his last eight starts, and in that span, he hit .393 with three home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored. That stretch helped him continue to build on an impressive breakout season, as he's hitting .290 with a .809 OPS to go along with 11 homers and four stolen bases across 70 contests.
