      Advice: Chapman was removed from Sunday's appearance with a cracked fingernail, but the issue was never expected to require a long-term absence. After beginning the season as the Pirates' primary setup man, Chapman appeared in the seventh inning Thursday while Colin Holderman followed him in the eighth frame.       Jones (3-4) picked up the win over the Cubs on Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over six innings.

      Advice: Jones allowed hits in four of his six innings of work, including a solo homer off the bat of Ian Happ to lead off the second. However, the right-hander still managed to log his third consecutive quality start while also posting at least seven strikeouts for the seventh time in nine outings this season. Jones produced 15 swings and misses on the night, though his seven hits allowed marked a season high. He's won just two of his last six decisions despite carrying a 2.89 ERA on the campaign.       Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Thursday's 7-5 win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Lowe has generated at least one hit in all eight starts since coming off the IL and tallied his second homer in the Boston series Thursday. He tagged Cooper Criswell for a two-run shot in the third inning to put the Rays ahead 3-1. Lowe owns a .957 OPS in 38 plate appearances this season with four runs scored.       Josh Lowe went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI against the Red Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: It was Lowe’s second home run of the season. He hit an 0-2 pitch from Cooper Criswell into the right field bullpen that looked like it could’ve been caught by outfielder Wilyer Abreu. Lowe started the season on the IL, but he’s now hitting .294 with a .956 OPS. He really just needs to stay healthy for another big season.

    • Jones with another quality start Thursday
      Jared Jones allowed three earned runs, struck out seven in six innings and picked up the win in the Pirates’ 5-4 victory against the Cubs on Thursday.



      Advice: Jones was top notch once again and earned his third win of the season. He induced 15 whiffs and had a 29 percent CSW on the night. His ERA is 2.89 on the season. Jones is pretty easily a top 20 starting pitcher for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home in his next start.

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) continues rehab assignment
      Jorge Soler (shoulder) will play another minor league rehab contest on Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento.

      Advice: Soler went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in his rehab assignment debut. The 32-year-old slugger checked out fine after being hit in the head by a deflection during batting practice earlier this week and should be ready to return to San Francisco’s lineup at some point in the near future.       Turner (hamstring) went through a workout at Citizens Bank Park for the second straight day Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Turner went through agility drills and took grounders on the field and also hit in the indoor batting cage. While the Phillies are not ready to say the shortstop is progressing from his left hamstring strain ahead of schedule, it sure seems like he might be.       Trea Turner (hamstring) went through agility drills on Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

      Advice: Turner has goen through a full workout, which also includes hitting and fielding grounders, on back-to-back days, which is notable since he’s just under two weeks removed from suffering a left hamstring strain. The 30-year-old shortstop was originally expected to miss six weeks, but it sounds like he’s going to beat that original estimate by a considerable margin, which is good news for the Phillies and fantasy managers.
