    • Assad allows five in loss to Reds Thursday
      Javier Assad allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Reds on Thursday.



      Advice: Assad gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out seven. He was replaced by Luke Little in a 4-4 game in the sixth inning and the run that scored on TJ Friedl’s RBI double was charged to Assad. The five earned runs were the most allowed in any start by Assad this year. His ERA is now 2.74, but his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.98.     • Parker goes seven innings in no-decison Thursday
      Mitchell Parker allowed two runs in seven innings and got a no-decision against the Braves on Thursday.



      Advice: Parker gave up three hits, walked none and struck out two. He had a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning, but Adam Duvall got him for a game-tying two-run home run. Parker’s ERA is 3.47 in 10 starts this year, though he’s won just one of his last eight starts. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Tigers on the road next week.

    • Continues solid pitching as starter
      Suarez allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Toronto on Wednesday.

      Advice: Suarez remained in the rotation for a third straight start and did a good job of keeping Baltimore in the contest with five strong frames. The only damage against him came in the second inning, when he surrendered two runs -- twice as many as he had allowed in his previous two starts combined. Suarez has posted a 1.93 ERA across 14 innings since rejoining the Orioles rotation May 25.     • Receives little help in loss
      Gilbert (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings, but he took the loss Wednesday versus the Athletics.

      Advice: Gilbert can be partly to blame for this loss, as his throwing error on a pickoff attempt put Daz Cameron in position to score on a passed ball in the fifth inning. The Mariners' lack of offense was the other problem, which led to Gilbert taking his fourth loss in his last six outings. He's turned in a quality start in four of those games despite the lack of wins. The right-hander is at a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 76:20 K:BB through 83.2 innings over 13 starts this season.       Logan Gilbert allowed two runs -- one earned -- with five strikeouts over seven innings in a loss against the Athletics on Wednesday.

      Advice: Gilbert had retired the first seven batters he faced before Zack Gelof took him deep for a solo homer in the third inning. A wild pitch and a passed ball error would bring a second run in to score for the A’s in the fifth. Gilbert would toss two more scoreless frames, but was saddled with the loss as the Mariners failed to get a run in. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 76/20 K/BB ratio across 83 2/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in Seattle on Monday.     • Albert Suarez solid for five in no-decision
      Albert Suárez pitched five innings of two-run ball Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Suárez was uninvolved in the decision after exiting a 2-2 game. He’s made six starts for the Orioles this year, and while he hasn’t completed six innings in any of them, he’s allowed more than two runs just once. He’ll definitely be tested next week, as he’s due to make home starts against the Braves and Phillies. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:18 pm
       
    • Albert Suárez to start Wednesday vs. Blue Jays
      Albert Suárez will start on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Suárez allowed one run over five innings last Friday against the division-rival Rays and will continue filling the void created by injuries to Kyle Bradish (elbow) and Dean Kremer (triceps). The 34-year-old is a tricky streaming option for fantasy managers given his lack of strikeout upside, but given Toronto’s persistent offensive struggles, he might be worthy of a gamble in deeper mixed leagues.     • Notches first win
      Megill (1-2) picked up the win Monday against Washington, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four in five innings of work.

      Advice: Megill made his third start since returning from a shoulder injury on May 20, notching his first win. The right-hander gave up his first home run of the season, a two-run shot by Joey Gallo in the fourth inning. Despite earning the win, the 28-year-old yielded four earned runs and recorded just four strikeouts, both season-worsts. Megill has now compiled a 3.00 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and a 24:9 K:BB across 21 innings. He will look to improve in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday versus Miami.     • Roughed up in loss
      Gore (4-5) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing six earned runs on seven hits and four walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Gore loaded the bases with one out in the fifth inning before departing, unfortunately reliever Dylan Floro allowed all three runners to score, adding three earned runs to Gore's stat line. Monday's outing was very uncharacteristic for the southpaw, who recorded a season-low two strikeouts and allowed more than two earned runs for the first time since April 19. After tonight's rough outing, the 25-year-old sports a 3.57 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched. Gore will look to rebound in his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend versus Atlanta. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:49 pm
