    • Diaz has two-hit game Saturday
      Yandy Diaz went 2-for-4 against the Orioles on Saturday.

      Advice: It was a quiet afternoon for the Rays as they were shutout. Diaz had the only two hits for Tampa Bay. After wining the batting title in the American League last year, he’s hitting just .245 so far this season. Diaz’ .273 BABIP this year is well below his .320 career BABIP.     • Bell: CES (wrist) to resume swinging this month
      Reds manager David Bell told reporters Saturday that Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) is expected to start swinging a bat in a few weeks.

      Advice: Bell added that Encarnacion-Strand will ramp-up his strength training next week and should be cleared to begin hitting again at some point in June. The 24-year-old slugger has been out since early May recovering from a right wrist fracture. It’s starting to look like he won’t return until sometime after next month’s All-Star break.       Freeman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 11-7 win over Pittsburgh.

      Advice: Freeman helped Los Angeles' offense get off to a fast start with his three-run blast in the first inning. The long ball extended his modest hitting streak to five games, during which he has slashed .389/.455/.889 with two homers, five RBI, five runs and two steals.       Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) had a follow-up exam with Reds doctors Wednesday, and he was cleared to take the next step in his rehab, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: While that would seem to be good news for Encarnacion-Strand, who was diagnosed with a right ulnar styloid fracture May 8, he opted to get a second opinion, putting his rehab on hold for the moment.       Freddie Freeman walloped a three-run homer on Thursday in the Dodgers’ win over the Pirates.

      Advice: Freeman followed singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in the opening frame with a no-doubter down the right-field line off Pirates starter Bailey Falter. The 34-year-old first baseman has gone deep twice in his last four contests and is up to eight big flies on the year to go along with a .294 batting average and 38 RBI through 64 games.       Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

      Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break.       Freeman went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run against Pittsburgh in a loss Wednesday.

      Advice: Freeman has been much less active on the basepaths this season -- he's attempted just four steals (with three successes) after going 23-for-24 last year. That 2023 performance was likely an aberration, as the 23 thefts were 10 more than his previous career-high mark. Freeman's other numbers are mostly down so far this season as well, but he's still been quite productive with a .294/.397/.476 slash line, seven homers, 17 doubles, 35 RBI and and 36 runs through 63 contests.     • Set to return to lineup Friday
      Burger said that he's not dealing with any soreness or pain in his intercostal muscle, but he's out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays as a matter of caution, Noah Berger of ElExtraBase.com reports.

      Advice: Burger was on the injured list from April 15 through May 6 with a left intercostal strain, and he appeared to tweak the muscle on a swing during Tuesday's 9-5 loss. He was able to stay in the game, and Burger's condition hasn't seemed to have taken a turn for the worse heading into Wednesday's series finale. However, with a team off day Thursday, both Burger and manager Skip Schumaker agreed that it was for the best for the third baseman to get a two-day break by exiting the lineup Wednesday.
