• Getting looks at third base
Caballero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Cubs.

Advice: He has lost some playing time since the return of Taylor Walls but has still started four of the last six games. Caballero has made starts at second base, third base and shortstop and looks set to settle into a utility role for the Rays. The 27-year-old has also been productive of late, hitting two home runs and swiping three bags across his last 10 appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:51 am

  • Zack Gelof has two hits, RBI in loss to Padres
Zack Gelof went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday in the Athletics’ loss to the Padres.

Advice: Gelof was one of the few bright spots in this one as briefly gave Oakland a lead in the late stages of the contest with an RBI double in the eighth inning off Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada. The 24-year-old second baseman has gotten off to an ice-cold start this season, but is still chipping in the occasional homer and stolen base to salvage some semblance of fantasy relevance, despite an abysmal batting average. • Brewers hopeful that Joey Ortiz can return Friday
Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy said after Wednesday’s game that he’s hopeful Joey Ortiz (hamstring) will be able to return to action on Friday.

Advice: The dynamic 25-year-old infielder was held out of action on Tuesday and Wednesday due to soreness in his right hamstring. Murphy noted that Ortiz “tested out really well” on Wednesday though and they’re hopeful that after Thursday’s off-day he’ll be ready to roll. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:46 pm

  • Davis Schneider posts two hits, homers in loss
Davis Schneider went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday in the Blue Jays’ loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Schneider took Brewers starter Tobias Myers deep in the opening frame to supply Toronto’s lone run of the contest until he helped spark a furious ninth-inning rally that came up just short. It was the first time he’s gone deep since May 31. He’s given up some leadoff opportunities to rookie Spencer Horwitz over the last few days, but appears likely to continue batting near the top of the Blue Jays’ lineup. • Making return to lineup
Keith (knee) will start at second base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Keith will slot back in at the keystone after he was excluded from the starting nine in both of the past two games, though he appeared off the bench and went hitless in his lone at-bat in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss. The rookie got off to a rough start to the season but seems to have turned the corner since mid-May, as he's slashing .286/.324/.414 over a stretch of 22 games. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:15 pm

  • Capturing regular outfield spot
Dubon will start in center field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Giants, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Dubon will be making his fifth consecutive start in the outfield, though he'll be occupying center Wednesday after his previous four starts came in left field. Jake Meyers appears to be receiving a routine off day Wednesday, but Dubon looks to have emerged as the Astros' preferred option in left over the struggling Chas McCormick, who is on the bench for the second day in a row after slashing .152/.152/.242 in 13 games since coming off the injured list. Dubon, meanwhile, is carrying a six-game hit streak into Wednesday's contest that has brought his batting average up to .303 for the season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:24 am

  • Reaches 10 steals
Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Gimenez has gone 4-for-26 (.154) over six games in June, and he hasn't drawn a walk in that span. The second baseman has maintained fairly steady playing time, but he's hit lower in the order with the Guardians facing a southpaw in three of their last four games. That may be a factor in his quiet stretch, though he's still doing well overall with a .263/.318/.363 slash line, four home runs, 10 steals, 33 RBI and 35 runs scored across 60 contests. • Joey Ortiz day-to-day with hamstring injury
Joey Ortiz is not in the Brewers’ lineup on Tuesday as he is undergoing testing on his hamstring.

Advice: Ortiz is being examined today after missing yesterday’s game with a sore right hamstring. Since the Brewers have an off day tomorrow, Ortiz being on the bench on Wednesday allows him to have more rest. We’ll likely know more about his status after the game today. Oliver Dunn is starting at third base for Ortiz on Wednesday and batting eighth. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:18 am

  • Remains out Wednesday
Ortiz (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Ortiz will miss a second straight start with a right hamstring issue. He still needs to undergo testing but is optimistic he won't require an extended absence, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Oliver Dunn will fill in for Ortiz at third base Wednesday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:31 am
