    • Rocked by O's
Civale (2-5) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings as the Rays fell 6-3 to the Orioles. He struck out eight.

Advice: The right-hander got taken deep by Anthony Santander in the second inning and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, just the second time this season Civale has served up multiple homers. The eight strikeouts did tie his season high, helping to salvage some fantasy value, but he's gone 10 straight starts without recording a win, going 0-4 over that stretch with a 6.66 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 50 innings. Civale will try to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Cubs. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
    • Fernando Tatis Jr. goes deep in lopsided victory
Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed his 11th homer of the season on Friday in the Padres’ blowout win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Tatis delivered a tone-setting 415-foot solo shot off Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt in the opening frame, which led to a 10-run, 14-hit explosion for San Diego’s struggling lineup. The 25-year-old fantasy superstar is batting .282 with 43 runs scored, 11 homers, 33 RBI and seven steals across 67 contests so far. Rotoworld Today, 3:31 am
    • Surrenders seven in no-decision
Miller did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-9 loss to Kansas City, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out one.

Advice: Miller posted his worst start of the season, allowing nine baserunners and seven runs, each marking season worsts. The Seattle right-hander was cruising through three scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the fourth, rounded out with a three-run blast by MJ Melendez. The outing pushed Miller's WHIP north of one, as it now stands at 1.02 to go with a 3.81 ERA over 75.2 innings. The 25-year-old looks to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm
    • Breaks slump Friday
Kim went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, one walk and three total runs scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kim went 0-for-10 with two walks over the previous three games before breaking out of the slump Friday. The homer was his eighth of the year but just his second over the last 18 contests. The shortstop has added a .223/.332/.393 slash line with 29 RBI, 34 runs scored and 13 stolen bases through 66 games. While his ratios are a bit adrift of his last two seasons, Kim continues to hold down a starting role with solid production in the counting stats. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm

    • José Abreu homers against Angels in victory
José Abreu hit his second homer Friday off the Angels’ Roansy Contreras.

Advice: Abreu is definitely swinging the bat better now than he was before he was sent to the minors, but that bar is so low it might as well be underground. Both of his homers have come since his return, a period that’s seen him go 5-for-27 with an 8/1 K/BB. We’re still pretty skeptical that he belongs in the majors at this point. • Smacks second homer
Abreu went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: Abreu has gone a modest 3-for-17 over six games in June, but two of those hits have been homers. The first baseman has made limited progress at the plate since he was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land, but he's seeing steady playing time anyway. He's slashing .122/.171/.194 with two homers, six RBI and eight runs scored over 105 plate appearances in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:54 pm
    • Bryce Miller struggles over five in no-decision
Bryce Miller gave up seven runs in five innings but didn’t factor in the decision against the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Miller was handed an 8-0 lead, but he nearly gave it all back himself. The right-hander walked three while allowing eight hits — including a three-run homer to MJ Melendez — and he struck out just one in his worst start of the season. Miller has mostly looked the part, but this one sees his ERA jump up to 3.81. There are still things hear to figure out before he’s an elite fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm
    • Civale allows four runs in loss to Orioles Friday
Aaron Civale allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Friday.

Advice: Civale gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out eight. He’s won just two of his 13 starts this year. Tampa Bay acquired Civale last year and he had a 5.36 ERA in 10 starts. In 13 starts this year, his ERA is 5.91. If the Rays of all teams can’t fix him, I don’t know if any team can. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs at home next week. • Contreras (forearm) expects to return before July
Willson Contreras told reporters that he expects to return from his forearm injury before July.

Advice: When asked if he could return as a designated hitter instead of a backstop, Contreras answered with a convincing “hell no.” The backstop did say a return against Chicago next week seemed a little fast ,but he does appear like he’ll beat his All-Star game timeline. Contreras wouldn’t offer a progression update, but everything here points to a return at some point in late June. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:48 pm
