    • Corbin Carroll (side) leading off Tuesday vs. Nats
Corbin Carroll (side) is leading off and playing center field against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Carroll is back in the lineup after leaving Sunday’s game against the White Sox with discomfort in his side. The 23-year-old had an MRI back clean, and it’s great news for fantasy managers and the Diamondbacks that last year’s Rookie of the Year is back in action. Rotoworld Today, 11:34 am
    • Progressing slowly
Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander's (neck) progress has been "slower than we expected," Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Verlander was scratched of his most recently scheduled start this past weekend against the Tigers because of neck discomfort. The club had been hoping he would be ready to start Thursday versus the White Sox, and while Espada didn't seem to officially rule Verlander out for the series finale in Chicago, he now appears likely to be pushed back again. Houston could have Spencer Arrighetti and Ronel Blanco both move up a day to start on Thursday and Friday, respectively, which would keep both pitchers on their typical four days' rest. The arrangement would also give Verlander a couple extra days to heal up if the team thinks he could take the ball Saturday versus the Orioles. A stint on the injured list for Verlander also can't be ruled out. Rotowire.com Today, 11:03 am

    • Verlander (neck) progress ‘slower than expected’
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) may not be ready to start Thursday against the White Sox.

Advice: Espada said that Verlander’s progress from his neck injury is going “slower than expected.” The right-hander was scratched from his start against the Tigers on Saturday because of that discomfort, and while there was hope he could make his next scheduled trip to the mound, that’s very much in doubt. Fantasy managers who roster Verlander will want to pay attention to the situation. Rotoworld Today, 10:49 am

    • Corbin Carroll (side) ‘penciled in’ Tuesday lineup
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters before Tuesday’s game that Corbin Carroll is “penciled in” to the lineup against the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll underwent an MRI on his side, and it came back clean without structural damage. The Diamondbacks could take precaution if he’s still sore before Tuesday’s contest, but it’s good news for Arizona and fantasy managers that at the very least, he’s avoided a significant injury. • Will be in Tuesday's lineup
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that Carroll (side) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's 12-5 win over the White Sox with discomfort in his left side, but an MRI came back clean Monday. Lovullo shed more light on Carroll's injury Tuesday, noting that the outfielder was merely dealing with some cramping. He'll be in action for the series opener in Washington on Tuesday following the team off day Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:06 am
    • Rengifo comes off bench day after wrist injury
Luis Rengifo came off the bench and struck out as a pinch-hitter Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: He then remained in to play two innings at third base. Rengifo didn’t start because of a wrist injury suffered Sunday, but it seems like he’ll be fine. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:01 pm

    • Nails down save Monday
Doval earned a save against the Cubs on Monday, striking out one batter in one perfect inning.

Advice: San Francisco scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a one-run lead, and Doval entered in the bottom of the frame to try to slam the door on Chicago. He did so without much trouble, needing just 11 pitches to set down the side in order. The outing helped wash away the sour taste of Doval's outing one day earlier, when he allowed four runs over one-third of an inning in a non-save situation against the Angels. On the season, the closer has racked up 13 saves in 15 chances while posting a 4.71 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 36:21 K:BB over 28.2 frames. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:25 pm
    • Doval picks up 13th save
Camilo Doval tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Doval bounced back to earn the save after allowing four runs and recording only one out in his last appearance on Sunday. His ERA will take some time to recover from that outing, but he lowered it to 4.71 on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:40 pm
    • Homers, drives in four
Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: Nimmo knocked RBI singles in the second and fifth innings but most of his damage came in the fourth inning when he ripped a two-run homer. It was his second straight three-hit game and fourth consecutive appearance with multiple hits. That hot streak has bumped Nimmo's OPS from .708 to .756. He has eight home runs and 39 RBI through 67 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:37 pm
