    • Taylor Ward (back) held out of lineup on Wednesday
Taylor Ward (back) was held out of the Angels’ starting lineup for Wednesday evening’s contest against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 30-year-old slugger was pulled from Tuesday’s ballgame — as a precautionary measure — due to tightness in his lower back. He’s still considered day-to-day and there haven’t been any rumblings about him requiring a stint on the injured list. Kevin Pillar will start in his place and will bat third for the Halos against Slade Cecconi and the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night in Arizona. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:30 pm

    • Resting against lefty
Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Conforto's streak of five consecutive starts will come to an end Wednesday while the lefty-hitting outfielder heads to the bench in a day game after a night game with a left-hander (Framber Valdez) on the hill for Houston. Austin Slater will enter the lineup in Conforto's place in left field and will bat leadoff. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:07 am
    • Another steal Tuesday
Marte went 0-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Marte drew multiple walks for the first time this season and has now swiped a bag in back-to-back games, bringing him up to three steals on the year. He continues to have a sharp eye at the plate so far in June, as he's slashing .375/.512/.688 with three homers, six RBI, eight runs and an 8:7 BB:K in 41 plate appearances. • Does enough for third win
McKenzie (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings in a 5-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out four.

Advice: The right-hander got a quick hook after 75 pitches (43 strikes) with the Guardians ahead 3-2, but the bullpen and offense were able to secure McKenzie's first win since April 19. He's failed to complete six innings in any of his last four trips to the mound, but on the bright side, he kept the ball in the yard Tuesday after serving up eight homers over his three prior outings. McKenzie will take a 4.10 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 65:38 K:BB through 68 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Mariners. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:30 am
    • Goes yard twice in win
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The veteran slugger led off the game with a deep blast to right field off Kutter Crawford, then did it again to lead off the fifth. Schwarber's June exploits have become legendary -- per Paul Casella of MLB.com, he's averaging one homer every 10.4 at-bats in his career during the month, the best pace in MLB history ahead of Babe Ruth's 10.6. Schwarber's current groove extends back to late May, and over his last 12 games he's slashing .277/.382/.532 with four long balls and seven RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 am

    • Rocked by Yankees
Singer (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Singer was in trouble from the start, allowing a triple to Anthony Volpe on just his second pitch of the day as part of a two-run first inning for the Yankees. Singer had more issues in the fourth, when Austin Wells launched a three-run home run to plate Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres to give New York a 6-0 lead. The 27-year-old's seven runs allowed marked a season high and he failed to complete six innings for the fifth time in his last six starts. He'll have another tough draw for his next start, with a road matchup with Dodgers set for Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:08 pm

    • Removed with back tightness
Ward was removed from Tuesday's game against Arizona due to lower-back tightness.

Advice: The Angels described Ward's removal as precautionary, so it's unlikely he's dealing with a serious injury. The 30-year-old outfielder had gone 2-for-2 with a solo home run, an RBI double and a walk before leaving in the eighth inning, and he's now slashing .253/.331/.452 with 12 homers and 36 RBI on the season. • Taylor Ward leaves game with lower back tightness
Taylor Ward left Tuesday’s game for precautionary purposes due to lower back tightness.

Advice: Ward was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the rout after homering, doubling and walking in three plate appearances. He’s day-to-day. If he can’t play Wednesday, then Kevin Pillar figures to get a start against a right-hander. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:56 pm

    • Singer allows six earned runs in loss to Yankees
Brady Singer allowed six earned runs over 5 2/3 innings while striking out six in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Singer gave up two runs in the first inning, but it was a four-run fourth that caused most of the damage. Gleyber Torres singled in the fourth to drive in Alex Verdugo, but a three-run homer by Alex Wells on the ensuing at-bat put this one well out of reach. Singer has allowed five or more runs in just two of his 13 outings this season and will look to rebound in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:58 pm
