    • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
      Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

      Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games).       Wood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

      Advice: The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up.     • James Wood singles, walks in MLB debut
      James Wood singled and walked in five plate appearances in his major league debut Monday against the Mets.

      Advice: The single came in his first big-league bat, as he managed to power a two-strike fastball through the left side of the infield (it helped a great deal that, because the Mets were shifted, it was Mark Vientos trying to field the grounder, rather than Francisco Lindor). Three of Wood’s four balls in play tonight were hit hard; in addition to the 107-mph single, he had a 96-mph lineout and a 95-mph groundout. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 pm

      Wood will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's contest versus the Mets.

      Advice: The left-handed-hitting Wood will go up against southpaw David Peterson in his major-league debut. Left-handers didn't bother the 21-year-old at all this season at Triple-A Rochester.       Altuve is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

      Advice: Altuve was ejected following the seventh inning of Sunday's 10-5 win over the Mets in 11 innings for arguing with the umpire that he fouled a ball off his foot, and he'll now receive some additional rest in what will be just his third day out of the lineup all season.     • James Wood officially called up by Nats
      Nationals recalled OF James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.

      Advice: The move was announced on Friday but is now official. Wood is MLB Pipeline’s 3rd-ranked prospect, behind Jackson Holliday and Junior Caminero, who have both already had a taste of the big leagues. Wood posted a .353/.463/.595 slash line with 10 homers and 10 steals across 52 games this season at Triple-A. Of course, he’s also 21 years old and we saw Holliday struggle against MLB pitching in his first crack at the big leagues, so it’s not a given that Wood will hit the ground running. He will also face three left-handed starters in his first three games which will give fantasy managers and Nationals fans a good chance to see if there will be any platoon issues early on.       The Nationals selected Wood's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

      Advice: The top prospect will make his major-league debut Monday against the Mets. Wood earned a promotion after sporting a blistering .353/.463/.595 batting line with 10 home runs, 10 stolen bases and a 42:40 K:BB over 52 games with Rochester.     • Surrenders three runs Sunday
      Castillo allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings Sunday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

      Advice: The Twins struck early with a run in the first on two base hits. Castillo went on to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced but then ran into more trouble in the fifth, allowing a double and two more singles, which led to another pair of runs for the Twins. He was able to work his way through the inning, but his day would end there at 77 pitches. Castillo managed to not give up any free passes for the first time since May 12, though he's also failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts. He still holds a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103:30 K:BB in 104.2 innings and projects to take the mound again to kick off a weekend series with Toronto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:48 am
