    • Aiming for Saturday return
Arenado (elbow) said after Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins that he expects to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Giants in St. Louis, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Arenado was lifted for a pinch runner in the top of the eighth inning after he took a 94 mile-per-hour sinker to his right elbow in his fourth plate appearance of the afternoon. Before departing, Arenado went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Though Arenado has been diagnosed with a bruised right elbow after initial X-rays returned negative, he noted that the pitch hit him in a nerve in the elbow that caused his hand to cramp up. Based on his postgame comments, Arenado already seems to be ruling himself out for Thursday's series opener with the Giants at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., but he's counting on being ready to go coming out of Friday's off day. • Nolan Arenado (elbow) hopes to return on Saturday
Nolan Arenado (elbow) is hopeful that he’ll be able to return to action on Saturday.

Advice: That means that he won’t play on Thursday for sure, while Saturday is still up in the air depending on how the next couple of days go. Arenado was clipped by a pitch on Wednesday that hit a nerve in his elbow, which caused his hand to cramp up. When he’s able to return will depend on when he regains full feeling in that hand. • X-rays negative on Nolan Arenado’s elbow
X-rays came back negative on Nolan Arenado’s right elbow after he was hit by a pitch Wednesday.

Advice: Arenado said the ball hit a nerve and left him with numbness in his fingers, but it looks like he’ll be OK. If he can’t play Thursday, then José Fermín could get the start at third. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm
    • Suffers right elbow contusion
The Cardinals announced that Arenado was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Initial X-rays on Arenado's elbow appear to have returned negative, but he'll undergo further medical evaluation as the Cardinals look to ascertain that he's not dealing with anything more than a bruise. Before he was lifted from the game for a pitch runner after being hit in the elbow by a 94 mile-per-hour sinker during his fourth plate appearance of the day, Arenado went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored. • Cardinals say Arenado has right elbow contusion
The Cardinals said Nolan Arenado has a right elbow contusion after being hit by a pitch Wednesday.

Advice: That doesn’t mean much at this point, since he’s still undergoing tests. It certainly didn’t look good when it happened. Rotoworld Today, 12:05 pm
    • Leaves following HBP on elbow
Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game in Miami after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored prior to exiting the game.

Advice: A Huascar Brazoban offering in the top of the eighth inning caught Arenado, who went down in a heap. He looked to be in considerable pain and eventually exited the field with a trainer. The Cardinals should have more on his condition shortly. Rotowire.com Today, 11:54 am
    • Nolan Arenado exits after taking pitch off right elbow
Nolan Arenado left Wednesday’s game against the Marlins after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch.

Advice: Arenado was still in a whole lot of pain and not moving his arm as he was helped off. José Fermín replaced him in the contest. If Arenado goes on the IL, Fermín would stand to benefit, but the Cardinals could also give Brandon Donovan more infield time. Rotoworld Today, 11:49 am
    • Racks up seventh win
Garrett (7-2) picked up the win Tuesday over the Rangers, striking out one in a perfect eighth inning.

Advice: The right-hander carved up the heart of the Texas order on 12 pitches (seven strikes), and Garrett was rewarded when New York completed a comeback in the top of the ninth. The journeyman reliever came into 2024 with a career 7.11 ERA in only 44.1 big-league innings, but he's been a revelation as a high-leverage option for the Mets, producing a 3.03 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB through 35.2 frames while adding three saves and six holds to his win total over 28 appearances. • Active in return
Carroll went 2-for-3 with two walks, a triple, a stolen base and a caught stealing in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's game with discomfort in his left side, but he was ready to go Tuesday after an MRI came back clean. He led off the game with a walk, stole second base, then trotted in on Ketel Marte's home run. Carroll later tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year's season-opening slump has started to lift; he's 16-for-47 (.340) with four doubles, two triples, nine walks, four steals and 16 runs scored over the last 12 games.
