    • Struck by comebacker
Ginkel was hit in the left leg by a comebacker during Saturday's game against the Mets and was removed from the game, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. He threw one perfect inning before the incident.

Advice: Ginkel was the first arm out of the bullpen for the Diamondbacks on Saturday, replacing Slade Cecconi late in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old retired the first two batters he faced before getting hit by a 98 MPH comebacker from Brandon Nimmo, who was still thrown out at first. Bryce Jarvis replaced Ginkel on the mound. • Nabs save Thursday
Garrett earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, walking one batter in a perfect inning.

Advice: Garrett walked the first batter he faced but managed to retire the next three Arizona hitters to nail down his third save. With Edwin Diaz (shoulder) on the injured list, Garrett appears to be the Mets' top option for ninth-inning work. The right-hander has notched New York's past two saves, though they came 11 days apart. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:19 pm
    • Reed Garrett procures save against Diamondbacks
Reed Garrett hurled a scoreless ninth to get a save Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Garrett has saved three games, and with Edwin Díaz out with a shoulder impingement, that number is likely to go up. Assuming New York wins games, of course. The right-hander did walk one batter, but he didn’t allow a hit and lowered his ERA to 2.54. If still available, Garrett is a nice stopgap closing option. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:57 pm
    • Let down by defense
Ginkel (2-1) was tagged with Sunday's 3-1 loss, giving up three unearned runs on three hits while striking out one over one inning to the Marlins.

Advice: Ginkel deserved better, but the normally surehanded Kevin Newman had a throwing error that led to all of Miami's runs being unearned. It continues a rough stretch for Ginkel, the one-time closer, who has allowed nine runs (six earned) on 13 hits and two walks over last 6.1 innings. That stretch includes Sunday's loss and a pair of blown saves. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:03 am
    • Melts down against Giants
Garrett (5-2) took the loss Friday against the Giants, coughing up five runs on four hits and a walk in the eighth inning.

Advice: The big blow was a grand slam by Patrick Bailey as Garrett squandered a 6-2 lead. The 31-year-old right-hander has been tagged with the loss in each of his last two appearances, and he's given up seven of his eight earned runs on the season in his last six innings, a poor stretch that has come as he's moved into the late-inning mix due to Edwin Diaz's own poor form. Garrett's stumbles have added more than two points to his ERA, but he still sports a 2.67 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB through 27 frames. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:38 am
    • Picks up ninth save
Doval gave up a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in the ninth inning Friday to record his ninth save of the season in an 8-7 win over the Mets.

Advice: The Giants scored six of their runs in the eighth and ninth innings to create the save chance, but Doval very nearly squandered it following a leadoff double by pinch hitter DJ Stewart and a fielding error by Marco Luciano. It was the first earned run the right-hander has allowed since May 8 at Coors Field, and on the season Doval carries a 3.05 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 27:15 K:BB through 20.2 innings while converting nine of 10 save opportunities. • Collects third win
Cano (3-2) allowed a run on one hit and struck out two over one inning Friday, blowing a save but earning the win over the White Sox.

Advice: Cano gave up a game-tying solo home run to Andrew Vaughn in the seventh inning, but the Orioles retook the lead in the eighth. Cano's allowed four runs over 3.2 innings across his last six appearances, adding two blown saves and two holds in that span. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB over 22.2 innings while picking up two saves, 11 holds and three blown saves. He's still part of the high-leverage mix, but his recent inconsistency may force manager Brandon Hyde to turn to another reliever for save chances if Craig Kimbrel is unavailable at any point. • Camilo Doval hangs on for ninth save
Camilo Doval worked around two hits and an error to earn the save on Friday over the Mets. He struck out one.

Advice: This was a treacherous ninth inning for Doval. The Mets rallied on him and then Marco Luciano butchered a tailor-made double play that would’ve ended the game. Then he intentionally walked Brandon Nimmo before punching out J.D. Martinez with a runner on third and one out. Then Matt Chapman made a herculean bare-handed play to end the game. He remains a super steady closing option despite this near collapse. Rotoworld Friday, 7:28 pm

    • Stuck with first loss
Garrett (5-1) took the loss Wednesday against Cleveland, allowing a run on two hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: After entering with the game tied 3-3 in the seventh inning, Garrett allowed a leadoff single to David Fry, who advanced to second on a wild pitch before eventually scoring on a Johnathan Rodriguez base hit. It's the first loss of the year for the 31-year-old Garrett -- he's allowed just two earned runs in his last 13.1 innings. Despite Wednesday's setback, Garrett's emerged as a top option in the Mets' bullpen and could see the occasional save chance with Edwin Diaz temporarily shifting to a lower-leverage role. Overall, Garrett sports a 1.04 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP while posting a stellar 14.9 K/9 across 26 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:35 am
