• Out against lefty again
Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Garcia will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Marlins bring another lefty (Trevor Rogers) to the hill. The Nationals will turn to the switch-hitting Ildemaro Vargas to replace Garcia at the keystone. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago
  • Tigers reinstate Andy Ibáñez from the IL
Tigers activated INF Andy Ibáñez from the injured list.

Advice: Ibáñez was off to a solid start, hitting .267/.235/.267 across his first seven games while playing mainly second base or third base. In his absence, Matt Vierling has played well, and it’s unclear just what kind of role Ibáñez will be coming back to. More than likely, he’ll be a versatile bench piece for the Tigers. Buddy Kennedy was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Back in big leagues
The Mariners recalled Haggerty from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Advice: Haggerty opened the season on the injured list after missing some time following an unspecified medical procedure, but he hit .344/.417/.375 in 17 games with Tacoma upon returning to action April 5. The 29-year-old will operate in a utility role, with some starts against left-handed pitching possible. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

  • Mariners promote Sam Haggerty
Mariners recalled OF Sam Haggerty from Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: The 29-year-old started the year on the IL but was activated and optioned to Triple-A on April 17th. Since then, he’s hit .344/.417/.375 with eight runs, seven RBI, and seven steals in 17 games. He’s had some fantasy value for stretches in the past, but will likely operate as a multi-position bench piece for the Mariners. He was called up to take the place of Jonatan Clase, who was sent back to Triple-A. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

  • Sent to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Advice: As anticipated, Martin will forfeit his spot on the 26-man active roster with the Twins reinstating Carlos Correa (intercostal) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Martin's demotion should clear the way for Trevor Larnach to man left field on an everyday basis, at least against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Today, 10:55 am

  • Expected to head to minors
The Twins are expected to option Martin to Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Monday's game against the White Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Shortstop Carlos Correa (oblique) is on track to come off the 10-day injured list Monday, and Martin looks like he'll move off the 26-man active roster in a corresponding move. Martin has been a near-everyday player for Minnesota since being called up from Triple-A on March 30 while slashing .226/.294/.371 across 68 plate appearances, but the Twins aren't expected to have regular at-bats available for both him and Trevor Larnach with Correa back in the fold and with Max Kepler recently coming off the IL. As a result, Martin will be the odd man out and head back to Triple-A, while Larnach should continue to play regularly versus right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Today, 10:19 am

  • Pablo Reyes designated for assignment
Red Sox have designated INF Pablo Reyes for assignment.

Advice: The Red Sox needed to make a move to the active roster in order to make room for recently acquired Garrett Cooper. With Ceddanne Rafaela now a full-time infielder and Vaughn Grissom on his way back from the injured list, Reyes was less needed in Boston. The 30-year-old is hitting .183/.234/.217 in 64 plate appearances with five RBI and one steal. There is a chance that he latches on with somebody else as versatile infield depth. • Exits 40-man roster
The Red Sox designated Reyes for assignment Monday.

Advice: Boston needed to clear a spot on their 26-man active roster and 40-man roster for first baseman/designated hitter Garrett Cooper, and Reyes ended up being the casualty. Reyes slashed a solid .287/.339/.377 for Boston last season but has managed just a .183/.234/.217 batting line over 61 plate appearances in 2024. Teams are always looking for versatile players, so even with his poor start, Reyes could draw some interest via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Today, 8:15 am

  • Steals home Sunday
Vargas went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: With one out in the sixth inning, Vargas cracked a double off Bruch Smith, advanced to third on a single, then raced home as part of a double steal with Trey Lipscomb. Vargas got the start at second base Sunday with lefty Ryan Weathers on the mound for Miami, and a short-side platoon role at the keystone might be all that's available for the 32-year-old utility player right now with Lipscomb, Nick Senzel and Luis Garcia all producing at the plate. Vargas has been making an impact of his own when he gets the chance though, slashing .304/.396/.413 through 53 plate appearances with two steals, four RBI and five runs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:07 am
