    • Drives in three runs Thursday
Fraley went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-4 victory versus the Yankees.

Advice: Fraley broke the game open for the Reds with his bases-clearing triple in the seventh inning. It was just the third three-bagger of his six-year career, with two taking place this season. Fraley tacked on a stolen base in Thursday's victory, giving him 12 thefts on the campaign. • Struggles in Independence Day loss
Stroman (7-4) took the loss against Cincinnati on Thursday, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

Advice: Stroman struggled to keep the ball in the park Thursday -- of the five hits he allowed, three were long balls, and all five of the runs he yielded came on home runs. The right-hander hadn't been prone to the long ball coming in, as he hadn't given up a homer in three of his prior four stats. Stroman hasn't been pitching particularly well of late, though, as he has a 6.43 ERA across 21 frames covering his past four outings. The five earned runs he allowed against the Reds tied a season-high mark. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:06 pm
    • McMahon hits RBI double in win over Brewers
Ryan McMahon went 1-for-4 with an RBI double against the Brewers on Thursday.

Advice: McMahon started the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. It was his 18th double of the season. McMahon is hitting .265 with a .793 OPS and 44 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:59 pm

    • Fraley plates three as Reds defeat Yankees
Jake Fraley drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 with a triple Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: All three runs were driven in on the triple, and it extended the Cincinnati lead to 8-2 in the seventh inning. The 29-year-old hasn’t shown much power in 2024 with just a .356 slugging mark, but his .278 average and .333 on-base percentage are nothing to sneeze at. Expect more pop from Fraley in the second half of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:11 pm

    • Marcus Stroman allows three homers in loss to Reds
Marcus Stroman gave up five runs while hurling five innings in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: The long ball was a problem for Stroman, as he gave up three homers accounting for all five runs. He walked two and struck out six in a start that would have looked fine without the roundtrippers. That’s not how this works, unfortunately. Stroman will take a 3.58 ERA into his final start of the first half against the Rays on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:10 pm
    • Moves up to No. 3 spot
Merrill will start in center field and bat third in Thursday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: Merrill had one start out of the leadoff spot back in mid-April and batted fifth a couple times last month, but this will be his first-ever start from the third spot in the Padres' batting order. The rookie outfielder has earned the assignment by slashing a robust .352/.380/.727 with nine home runs, 21 RBI and two stolen bases over his last 23 games. Jake Cronenworth has typically hit third since Fernando Tatis (quad) went down and has a day off Thursday, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Merrill receive more opportunities from the middle of the San Diego batting order. • Jackson Merrill hitting 3rd for Padres
Jackson Merrill is starting in center field and batting third for the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This is Merrill’s first start as a three-hole hitter and it’s certainly earned after he hit .320/.346/.650 in June with nine home runs, 17 runs, 20 RBI, and two steals in 28 games. If that power holds up and he continues to hit in the middle of the order, his fantasy stock will rise dramatically. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:02 am

    • Fans eight in loss
Rodon allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings in a loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Advice: Though he logged his fourth straight defeat, this was a bounce-back effort of sorts for Rodon after he surrendered 21 runs (20 earned) over 13.2 innings across his previous three starts. The veteran hurler did, however, continue to struggle with the long ball Wednesday, yielding multiple homers for the third straight outing. Rodon has given up seven home runs during that three-game stretch, and his 18 homers allowed on the campaign is tied for third most in the majors. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:23 am

    • Continues to roll with 19th save
Diaz earned a save against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Diaz entered in the ninth frame to protect a one-run lead and was successful despite issuing a leadoff walk. The Cincinnati closer has tossed seven straight scoreless outings, allowing just one hit during that span while recording five saves. Diaz has rebounded well from his early season struggles, as he's been successful in each of his past 13 save opportunities and has registered a 1.53 ERA across 17.2 frames over that stretch.
