    • Masyn Winn returns from illness

Advice: Winn is leading off today, and Brandon Crawford has returned to the bench. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

    • Remains out Wednesday
Friedl (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: He'll take a seat for the second day in a row while he recovers from a tight hamstring, which he sustained while making a diving catch in the fifth inning of Monday's 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh. The Reds seem to be viewing Friedl as day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list could become more realistic if he isn't ready to play coming out of Thursday's off day. Friedl's absence Wednesday will open up a spot in the outfield for Stuart Fairchild. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
    • Returns from illness
Winn (illness) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game in Miami, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Winn missed out on his first start since June 5 in the Cardinals' 9-8 extra-inning loss Tuesday, when he was scratched from the lineup shortly before opening pitch due to an illness. Fortunately for Winn, the one day of rest appears to be all he needed to shake off the ailment. The 22-year-old will take back his usual spot atop the St. Louis lineup in the series finale with the Marlins. Rotowire.com Today, 7:11 am

    • Enters as pinch runner
Hamilton (side) entered Tuesday's game as a pinch runner, stole a base and scored a run in a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hamilton was held out of the starting lineup after exiting Monday's game with discomfort in his side. He eventually entered as a pinch runner in the eighth inning and scored the game-winning run after stealing his 19th bag of the season (fifth in MLB). Ten of those 19 steals have come in the last 11 games. Boston manager Alex Cora told Ian Browne of MLB.com there's a good chance Hamilton will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale. Rotowire.com Today, 5:58 am
    • Makes impact in return
Smith served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Smith returned to the starting lineup Tuesday after battling a hamstring issue since late last week. He was given a soft re-entry as the DH and could return to his normal duties as the fill-in third baseman for the injured Josh Jung (wrist). The surprisingly productive Smith has been a boon to the Rangers' offense which has missed Jung's bat. Smith is batting .298/.386/.451 with five homers, 16 doubles, one triple, 28 RBI and 34 runs scored over 249 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 5:09 am

    • Ends power drought
Yelich went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Angels.

Advice: Yelich opened the scoring with a first-inning homer, his first long ball since May 29. Power's been the only thing missing for the veteran outfielder in June -- he's batting .322 (19-for-59) this month, but with just two extra-base hits and five RBI over 16 contests. For the year, Yelich is slashing .324/.400/.506 with seven homers, 32 RBI, 25 runs scored and 14 stolen bases over 200 plate appearances in what's shaping up to be his best campaign since 2019. • Kirby Yates takes first loss after unearned run
Kirby Yates took his first loss after giving up an unearned run in the ninth Tuesday against the Mets.

Advice: José Leclerc’s inability to get the job done in the seventh stressed the Rangers bullpen tonight. David Roberson had to get the final two outs of that inning and then wound up giving up two runs in the eighth on his 30th pitch of the night. Yates came into a tie game in the ninth and gave up the go-ahead run on a walk, a catcher’s interference and a double. The catcher’s interference was provided by J.D. Martinez, who again tested the boundaries of the batter’s box, but at least he didn’t break anyone’s arm this time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:46 pm

    • Josh Smith hits three-run homer against Mets
Josh Smith went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the loss to the Mets.

Advice: We’re still not really buying into Smith’s terrific start to the season, but there’s little doubt that he’ll remain in the Rangers lineup after Josh Jung returns. He’s batting .298/.386/.451 through 247 at-bats, even though his exit velocity numbers are actually worse than when he hit .185/.304/.328 last season. His strikeout rate is well down, which definitely helps, but he still seems to be overachieving at the moment. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:46 pm

    • Scratched with illness
Winn was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup ahead of Tuesday's game versus Miami due to illness, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Winn was originally in line to start at shortstop Tuesday, but his absence will move Brandon Crawford from third base to short instead. Brendan Donovan will cover the hot corner as a result, moving Alec Burleson into left field while Dylan Carlson steps in to man right field, batting eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:46 pm
